Me too. Between 2011 to 2016. In the sticks. No Farangs in sight. Some linguistic problems at first. After 5 years I realised that I will not ever be part of the linguisting/cultural surroundings.

What surprised me most, how certain tribes in Thailand despised neighboring tribes with a vengeance. Asking why? = They are not "one of us".

Sounds familiar? Around the globe?

The root of unfounded "racism"? Or is it a natural instinct to want to stay within "natural racial boundaries". Negating the fact that "homo sapiens" is to 99% genetically comperable.

God separated the nations at The Tower of Babel and gave them their own national boundaries and language for a reason, and the world is still trying to cram muti-culturalism down our throats. And guess who is behind it all.......Satan himself. Wake up people!

I'm the opposite. I prefer to keep away from fellow Caucasians. Much prefer to be with Thai's only.

That's the exact definition of a racist.

You are not racist simply for feeling more comfortable around people who look like you. Comfort and familiarity are normal human instincts. It becomes a problem only if you believe others are inferior

Yes it does,

I prefer to sit at a table with other male British Christians, which makes me a bigot!

Steer clear of Seppos

I am white/caucasian/european. So far so good.

But in an internationally mixed environement (a restaurant), I prefer to sit at a table where fellow caucasians sit. Does that make me a racist?

Having the choice, I prefer to strike up a conversation with a female that appears "feminin", the more "feminin" the better. Instead if of a women that tries to explain to me the new "world order" with regard of the way males and females shold interact in todays world. Does that make me a hopeless "sexist"?

It get's worse: I smoke and drink liberal amounts of alcohol on occasion. This alone qualifies me as a modern day "leperd". Ashes on my head.

Please give advice how I should "re-calibrate" myself, to cope with a world that I understand less and less. OR: Set me straight!

I'm also "white/caucasian/european" and in my modest view: Yes, you are a bit racistic; However, if seating is free choice, you can check if there is an empty seat in the farang-community and seat yourself there; if not free seating, you can ask polite to be seated in a specific part of the restaurant and otherwise either accept your seating or feel free to visit another restaurant instead.

"Having a choice" to select whom to start a conversation with seems like freedom; I would do the same, I'm quite a bit introvert and prefers tro be let alone – both by women that I'm not interested in and by fellow farangs in a restaurant.

However, I don't smoke – anymore, I gave up 10-years ago; so, I know what it's like to be a smoker – and I don't drink apart from a glass of wine or two at my supper. About smoking, you can be a polite smoker and smoke in the dedicated "smoking area" or walk outside, if smoking is permitted there. I did that the later years of my smoke-intake, but it became quite boring and sometimes even complicated, much easier to give up smoking and enjoy the party. About drinking, it is really a question on how you behave during occasions with "liberal amounts of alcohol" – some folks are to be avoided, in a liberal-intake situation...🫣

It's the limit of my engagement with bores. You might make it to 30 seconds.

It's apparent why you draw admiration from so many, yet it often stems from questionable reasons.

And if there was an English speaking black couple beside you?

Not restriced to Thai linguistinctly, Since Elisabeth1st, English has become "the global language". It's not about language. It's about "cultural belonging", separating countries, tribes, religious believes.

But still most of us prefer to stay with "our own kind", regardless of where we are on the globe. "Racism" a natural instinct possibly?

Youv've gotta get out more.It

You've gotta get out more and when you go out it doesn't matter who you sit next to to as you don't have to talk to them but you might learn something by listening.
