A late-night dispute between a group of Chinese tourists and a Bolt driver in Pattaya ended at a police station in the early hours of 11 February 2026, after tensions flared over cleaning costs following an incident in the vehicle. Police intervened to prevent the argument escalating into violence and later recorded the matter in the daily log. No injuries were reported.

At 01.50am on 11 February, officers from Pattaya City Police Station were alerted to a loud argument outside a restaurant on Pattaya South Road, Chonburi. Four Chinese nationals were found in a heated exchange with a Bolt driver, drawing attention from passers-by and tourists. Patrol officers stepped in to calm the situation and escorted both parties to the police station to prevent further disorder.

Mr Suriya Boonyuen, 48, the Bolt driver involved, told police he had picked a Chinese passenger from an entertainment venue on Pattaya Third Road. During the journey, the passenger, who was heavily intoxicated, vomited on the rear seat, soiling the upholstery. Mr Suriya said he arrived outside the restaurant on Pattaya South Road to discuss compensation of approximately 1,000–2,000 baht for cleaning and seat washing.

According to Mr Suriya, the passengers refused to pay and left the vehicle, calling over Chinese friends from a restaurant across the road. The argument intensified, and one member of the group allegedly kicked the rear of the car causing damage. Mr Suriya recorded video footage as evidence, while nearby Bolt motorcycle taxi riders attempted to intervene, further heightening tensions and nearly leading to a physical altercation in the street.

The dispute continued outside Pattaya City Police Station when a Chinese woman wearing a black shirt filmed the drivers with her mobile phone, prompting further complaints. She claimed she had already used tissue paper to clean the vomit and questioned why compensation of 5,000 baht was being sought for cleaning the seat and carpets. Officers brought both sides into an investigation room, explaining the relevant legal considerations and procedures to the tourists through an interpreter over more than two hours.

Ultimately, the group of Chinese tourists accepted responsibility and agreed to pay total compensation of 15,000 baht to settle the matter. Police recorded the agreement in the station diary before allowing both parties to return to their accommodation. No further violence occurred.

Obviously need to pay for cleaning

Yes, but it all went ultimately to 15000 baht which seems excessive. I wonder if that included damage from the kick or a police contribution.

I think you know the answer to your question :)

.. but it all went ultimately to an agreed 15000.

So, it started at 1,000 - 2,000, then jumped to 5,000, and when the police got involved it went up to 15,000!

They should have quit while they were ahead!

Idiots deserve a Darwin award. Instead of giving him 1000-2000 baht which is quite a normal "fine" for throwing up in someone's car they escalated it, caused damage to the car, wasted everyone's time for hours, and ended up paying 15000. On the upside - I wholeheartedly support the woman posting her video to social media - help keep more ***holes from coming!

The Thai's have had it easy with western tourists for years, who typically want to avoid conflict, whilst in a foreign country, and accept being ripped off to save some grief.

The Chinese are not like that. They will literally fight for every baht.

That's what you get when you aim for quantity over quality.

Ah yes, quality tourists.

You can expect the quality to keep going towards the gutter in the future.

Even with Pattaya's traditional money earner, the sex industry, more and more girls, particularly the pretty ones, are now working off apps, working in the background of the sex industry in Pattaya.

So, you will not even see sex tourists with money to spend in the beer bars or gogo shows into the future.
