Toilet Seats

Featured Replies

Growing up in North America, we first had solid wood--usually oak--toilet seats. IKEA used to sell them, too.

Then, pressed wood, enameled white was the standard. These are nice & heavy, satisfying, my idea of a decent toilet seat.

The bum gun is not enough!

Does anybody know where I can buy a real toilet seat instead of these flimsy plastic ones that crack at the front and catch your...never mind.

Just a remark when buying toilet seats. Make sure that the seat has the correct size matching to your toilet. I recently wanted to replace a seat which was not in stock. The order price was quite high so I asked the staff at Homepro to sell me a similar model, I even showed them the old seat for measurement. The so called compatible version does not match properly and is nearly unusable.

While we're here, I have a toilet seat anecdote to tell. I missed the comfort of real toilets seats that I bought one at Lowes hardware store ($15). At the time, I was traveling every year for family.

The paint on his toilet seat wore off in a few months, exposing the presswood. I carried it back and returned it the next summer. Upgraded to a more expensive model. It didn't last either.

I miss the old days when you could carry, literally, the kitchen sink. Every time I visited a 240V country, I brought something home. My chainsaw got its own seat!

Same problem, 2 out of 3 broken in my home.

Replacements don't last a week.
