Because yesterday I went to see two "normal" dentists who looked at my upper molar and said to go see a Endodontist

Ive read some of your posts over the years and find your personality bizare to be honest. If a general practitioner dentists tells you its a hard case and is being professional enough to recommend a specialist then why are you whinging like this.

You belong back in Australia with the other entitled members of that country. Please go back and leave Thailand alone. thanks

It seems and don't quote me on this that Endodontist (which is a root canal dentist ) only VISIT Pattaya once or twice a week there's no full time ones here !!!!!

In a top-notch dental clinic in a private hospital in Bangkok last year...

I had an upper rear molar that was giving me grief. The excellent dentist who has done two crowns for me took a look and said I probably needed a root canal but wanted me to get a second opinion from the professor who was her teacher in dental school. A few weeks later, she took a look and, despite x-rays, wouldn't commit to the treatment required. Referred me to an endodontist; the waiting time for an appointment was two months. Back in Australia, my periodontist took a look and told me it would be a very difficult root canal if required and two month wait for an appointment.

I had my root canal treatment done in Bangkok Hospital Pattaya with

Dr. Rapee

IMO she is brilliant. 4 sessions and no pain at all.

I feel sure that Dr Rapee will not thank you for sending this man to see her.

Root canal's here are typically under 10,000 baht, they are a fairly simple procedure done in anywhere from 30 to 45 minutes, by somebody who is skilled in this specialty. If done properly they're not painful and they're no big deal at all. I speak from experience.

My experience seemed to differ. I had multiple sessions each of 15 -20 minutes. It was not my idea of fun either.

No. One visit of 45 minutes total. I've had it done many times and if it's beyond one visit they're just trying to milk you for more money, be aware of it root canal scammers.

You either had a very special case or you had a highly incompetent dentist. I can't tell you the number root canal's I've had, and when in the hands of a good dentist it's a pretty simple process and it only takes one session. However if you're in the hands of a dentist who wants to milk you that might be a different story.

I would agree. I only go to the small dentists. The ones with English websites are after money.

Are they more expensive at this BKK Pattaya hospital?.

Surely there someone who can do my root canal ?

Monkey man here. I'd love to try my hand at a root canal on your upper molar. There's a good chance I'd perforate the sinus, which can quickly lead to a brain infection. It seems that most of the posters on the board would prefer this to a monkey being experimented on.

What do you say? I'll run the instruments under warm tap water to minimize the risk of infection!

She seemed more than competent. I was not opposed to breaking up the treatments as it was a bit of discomfort I was glad to have a break from. I cannot really compare as I only ever had one root canal done. Perhaps treatment varies dependent on which tooth it is, in my case an upper wisdom.

You don't know the particular dentist so your comments carry little weight, especially from someone who cannot take care of their teeth. I don't believe the BHP employs unqualified doctors. I would worry more of a street clinic. As I said, I didn't see the price excessive although the quoted cost of a crown at the end was, and I went back to my regular clinic at a lower price.

Bum gun generates more water pressure resulting in cleaner instruments. Use that.

Trying to get root canal surgery here is like pulling hens teeth

I could get it done quickly in Australia but I'm not paying 60,000 baht quoted so I come to Thailand and can't get it done ...omg...all I ask if anyone know a dentist who is not lazy ,surely that's not too much to ask

No, root canals are done complete in 1 visit and i have had several complicated ones done. if there are other visits its just an inspection or some other issue involved as once they open the tooth and start to remove the interior root the nerves are exposed and to leave it open could lead to infection and severe pain from an exposed nerve. Never heard of any root canal done in multiple visits but i use competent dentists
