Foreign Man Found Hung with Torture Injuries in Pattaya

Featured Replies

A foreign man believed to be Chinese was found dead under suspicious circumstances near a railway-side road in Patttaya, Chonburi, on the morning of 5 March 2026. The body showed signs of physical abuse and possible torture prior to death. Police have launched an investigation to determine the victim’s identity and the cause of death.

Police were alerted at around 09.30 when the body was discovered beside the railway road, on the section which is closed for road works, just after the Soi Khao Talo junction. Responding officers included investigators from Bang Lamung Police Station, forensic officers from Chonburi’s Police Forensic Division 2, a duty doctor and rescuers from the Sawang Boriboon Pattaya Foundation.

The victim was found in a motorcycle parking shelter used by hotel staff, located beside the railway road. He was described as an Asian male aged approximately 30–40 with East Asian features, believed to be Chinese. His body was discovered hanging from a cream-coloured nylon rope tied to a roof beam.

Investigators noted the victim’s body was in a standing position with both knees slightly bent and his left hand raised near the noose. He was wearing a blue round-neck shirt with the English wording “ARAS” printed on the back, black-and-white elephant-pattern trousers, and white shoes. Two pieces of asphalt had been stacked beneath his feet.

Police at the scene estimated the man had been dead for anywhere between six to twelve hours when discovered. No identification documents were found on the body. However, a lighter, a pen and three handwritten letters in Chinese were discovered in his right trouser pocket.

According to the letters, the man apologised to his family and asked that the embassy be contacted so his parents could be informed and his body returned home. One message reportedly read: “I apologise to my family. Please contact the embassy and my parents and help take me back home.”

Initial forensic examination revealed extensive bruising covering the victim’s body from head to toe. His face was swollen, while both legs showed numerous dark spots resembling injuries caused by electric shocks. Several burn-like wounds were also found on his back, appearing similar to injuries from heated objects.

Forensic officers and medical staff believe these injuries were inflicted two to three days before the man’s death. Investigators are therefore examining whether the death was staged or connected to earlier violence.

The body was first discovered by 41-year-old Ekphoj Nundee, a water truck driver working for a construction contractor repairing the nearby road surface. He said he was spraying water to reduce dust when he turned his vehicle and noticed the body hanging in the shelter, prompting him to alert police immediately.

Police investigators, forensic teams, and detectives have since begun collecting evidence from the scene. Authorities are also reviewing CCTV footage from nearby areas and interviewing witnesses in an effort to identify the victim and establish how he came to be found hanging at the location.

ThaiRath reported the body will be transferred to the Police General Hospital’s Institute of Forensic Medicine for a detailed autopsy. Investigators say the results will be crucial in determining the true cause of death and whether criminal charges may follow.

pattaya again.

what is it about pattaya that attracts most of the criminal activity?

Many big cities will start with the presence of specific ethnic groups, which then become an attraction for organized criminals from their country, such as China, Japan, and Russia. In the US from the 1900s to the 2000s it was the Italian mafia. It’s like a harvest.

So signs of torture and a suicide note. Organized crime is being mentioned above but don't discount the CCP as we don't as yet know who this person was. My money though would be on organized crime.

Meanwhile they keep coming. RIP now no matter what your circumstances were.

This is a general observation that does Not apply to all.

Pattaya is where the bad boys and girls go to play. Phuket is overrun, congested and expensive.

Pattaya's history is one of transients visiting for short time, some to try things not legal, but affordable, and plentiful.

Pattaya is still convenient, cheaper, easier to travel around then almost any city that offers the variety of options.

Business wise, you have foreigners who know little of how complex, how processes work, what government agencies, etc to set up a business alone.

Some businesses start needing funding, again foreigner doesn't isn't established in the area. Maybe through a contact gets recommended someone who is shady and things go wrong.

General population is fine living in Pattaya. These seem to be targeted events.

Police Probe CCTV in Pattaya Death Near Railway Road

Police investigating the death of a Chinese man found hanging near the railway road in Pattaya have reviewed CCTV footage and currently believe the incident to have been a suicide. However, officers say the final cause and circumstances leading to the death, will depend on the results of a detailed forensic examination.

The man was identified as Pang Xiwen, 39, who had entered Thailand in January and was staying at a hotel in the city. He was discovered on the morning of 5 March 2026 near the Khao Talo railway road junction. His body was found hanging from a nylon rope in a motorcycle parking shelter beside a hotel, prompting a major police response.

Earlier reports noted that the body showed extensive bruising and other injuries, which initially raised suspicions of possible torture or assault prior to death. Investigators from Bang Lamung Police Station, along with forensic officers, began collecting evidence and searching for clues to determine what had happened.

Since the discovery, police have been carefully reviewing CCTV footage from cameras installed around the area, including those along the railway road and nearby buildings. The aim was to determine whether anyone else was involved in the incident before or at the time of his death.

According to investigators, the footage examined so far has not shown any signs of physical assault or other individuals interacting with the victim prior to his death. Officers said there is currently no evidence suggesting that another person was directly involved in the incident.

Based on the evidence gathered to date, police believe the man may have taken his own life by hanging. Nevertheless, authorities stress that this conclusion remains preliminary and has not yet been formally confirmed.

Officials explained that the injuries observed on the body will need to be examined in detail by forensic specialists to determine when they occurred and whether they were connected to the death. The investigation remains open until all medical and forensic findings are complete.

The body has been sent for a full autopsy at the Institute of Forensic Medicine at Police General Hospital. Doctors will conduct a comprehensive examination to establish the exact cause and circumstances of death. Police say further updates will be provided once the forensic report is completed.
