Not trying to defend the UK guy in anyway as he was a complete idiot for getting into that situation with a Thai Police officer (especially one that was bigger than him!) but he had surrended before the Thai police man decided he was going to choke him out.

You werent the one confronted by a deranged foreigner who already attacked him. Until the criminal is dead or unconscious or in cuffs, he is a danger.

Incidents like this do nothing but reinforce the worst stereotypes about badly behaved tourists.

Attacking a uniformed officer in Thailand is about the fastest way imaginable to ruin your life, and he’s lucky the response was as restrained as it was.

Foreigners who come to Thailand and think they can behave like street thugs back home are in for a very rude awakening. If the courts decide to make an example of him, it would send a message that desperately needs to be heard: respect the country you’re visiting, or face the consequences.

As part of his punishment, he should be made to listen to the 1966 song by Sony Curtis about what happens when you fight the law. The chorus sums up his situation perfectly!

The dog was barking because the disturbance in the store prevented him/her from receiving intermittent supply of air-conditioned cool air at the entrance to the 7-Eleven store .

Also reduced its chance of getting a handout of a hot dog sausage

As a Brit myself, the behaviour of the young Brit tourists across the World is disgraceful, one of the reasons i first went to Asia over 20 years ago, was to get away from the idiots who had already ruined most of Europes holiday destinations with their drunken Cocaine fuelled antics, and it was a safe haven for many years, now the same people who ruined Europes holiday hotspots are now running riot here too, the beginning of the end is now upon us, the plague of violence and anti- social behaviour that follows the influx of these clowns will be will spread like a dark cloud over all of Thailands tourist resorts, mark my words, iv seen it first hand....

Too much exaggeration about how the cops in the US handle most things. Thousands of arrests made daily and only a few involve shootings of suspects. A cops job everywhere is to subdue. Not to beat, shoot an unarmed suspect, hit while down etc. Taking anger out on a suspect is unprofessional. That is the problem with some cops, and exactly why they join the force.

What the man did was wrong, and he should be subdued and arrested. The same happens here with security guards, who are hired to keep the peace, and not thugs to beat anyone that gets a little rowdy.

Was this caused by the guy having the munchies from smoking weed and refusing to accept the cheese toasties were finished in the 7-11 🤔

Pattaya attracts low lifes, fair enough they have to go somewhere , and as a result this sort of behaviour is not uncommon, considering the number of idiots that are drunk and at large in the place at any one time, its hardly surprising that these incidents occur.

To all the pearl clutchers voicing their outrage , get over yourselves , it's just another day in paradise, we are all as bad as each other in the eyes of the Thais who work there, they don't differentiate between the respective nationalities of foreigners, that only occurs on this and other english language forums

Just remember calling for his deportation or any other severe punishment does not make you look any better than anyone else, and assuming the thai authorities need your advice on how to deal with people like this smacks of arrogance, with a big dollop of virtue signalling
