WARNING !! WARNING !! WARNING !!

Attempted Identity Theft / Kidnapping on ThaiVisa....

post-23920-1233655387_thumb.jpg

Will the real avatar please stand up.

I've noticed that chap before...... he ain't go my moves :o

The weather's moderated here.

Who's the Mod? That job is much tougher than General or Bedders :D

Balmy days forecast for the next week. :o

Thta's weird, I've always spelled Barmy with an "r". Never thought of it with an "l"

Barmy reminds me of the pommie, "Barmy Army", that follows and supports English sports around the world.

Ahhhhhh, balmy days here at the mo', cold beer and snacks, enjoying the sun.

Balmy is more soothing, unless 'tis Tiger Balm, then things get fiery.

Anything between 22 & 37 is fine by me.

I was talking about the WEATHER! :o

Yeah, rite, we ALL believe ya......... :o

If anyone likes their weather hot, head for Mildura tomorrow............

Weather Bureau are predicting 46 celsius tomorrow.................!!!!!!!!!!

and that's in the shade..

:o

No thanks. 44 degrees c in Melbourne (111 degrees f) - that's sufficiently warmish!

I get confused at times when i see someones avatar being used by another person, especially if its quite unique. I see the avatar in my peripheral vision, read the post, then think "That didnt 'sound' much like.... (*looks over at nik*)..oh..!". :o

...

Lately, the repetitive cliche's which turn up on ThaiVisa have been getting to me, particularly the random inexplicable hateful comments which are snuck in and not even related to the topic. ....But, like gas, the feeling will pass.

Not only avs. Someone joined a couple of weeks ago and called him/herself Ping1. What's that make me? :o

BTW just to keep it random - I'm half pissed at the moment, off to bed soon...

No rush - there's no point in doing things by halves...

Yes, hottest day on record in Melbourne. Hotter in other parts of the state. Daughter's up in Horsham visiting friends (who are on fire evacuation alert) but she can't get back to Melbourne (too many bushfires have cut the highways)... and a large bushfire is within a kilometre of razing my Bendigo house, 50 homes gone already, but said to be 'under control' (30 fire units attending and another 40 enroute).

Apparently the fire in Bendigo is not so much 'under control' as somewhat contained. Still a major threat to houses in the area of mine... between 50 and 100 houses in that area gone, with a major threat of spot fires taking more.

E: Latest update - a major sports centre, a couple of pubs and other commercial premises gone, 20 homes gone and another 20-30 homes damaged. I may be okay. (This is Bendigo only - many, many more houses and buildings gone in fires throughout the State [of Victoria]). 14 confirmed dead in bushfires throughout the State so far, with many more feared dead.

25 confirmed dead in the Victorian bushfires, toll expected to rise above 40. Hundreds of houses destroyed.

Hope yours escaped Ping. :o

Meanwhile in Qld, the flood waters in Ingham are rising again.

Many towns and thousands of square miles are under water

Thanks Bags. Yes, I phoned the neighbour and was told that it is probable that the fire will miss. According to the latest inf from the CFA (Country Fire Authority) website, that fire is currently burning in over 500 hectares and is neither contained nor under control. Any wind shifts would seem to be the current threat. However, the neighbour there seems quite confident.

E: The Western Highway has been reopened, so daughter will be able to get home to Melb. A good thing too - she has to go to work tomorrow.

E2: Here's a map of the fire locations. Mouse-over the locations for sitrep summary. (It can be a little slow for this page to load fully, probably due to hits):

Yeah, my thoughts / sympathy with all my friends in Australia.

Wish Ping and all those in country areas best of luck.

Stay safe.

Thanks Ken, Tiggs, Pete. Over 80 confirmed dead (including ex ch. 9 news reader Brian Naylor, whom some may know) and numbers likely to go over 100. Entire towns lost. Sad days.

I am sitting with the soles of my feet together,

For a quick feed try the Italian Spaghetti and Meatballs from Lotus Express. Not bad when you need something fast.

I am sitting with the soles of my feet together,
