Well, the Sandbox continues to plumb the depths with all the taunting and flaming going on. Clearly, some people who post there have developed considerable enmity towards certain others. If you folk can't get on, why not simply ignore the posts of people with whom you have your issue? It might be better if the Sandbox were moved as a sub-forum of General and moderated accordingly.

As I haven't been in there lately, is it anything like this Ping ?

Quote of the Week:

I love deadlines. Especially the whooshing sound they make as they pass by.

Douglas Adams

Just back from the seven.

There was this lady with an enormous front package if I may say.

Really huge....

The continuing woes of the Ping notebook saga.

I use Outlook to read RSS feeds. Yesterday, upon trying to read my daily dose of the Herald Sun, a note came up saying that there is an error with the HTML previewer and the news article wouldn't open. (I'd had this same problem about twelve months previously and could not find a solution - but other problems had caused a re-format and total reinstall.) So I uninstalled and reinstalled MS Office (which, with the consequent re-downloading of all the updates, took most of the afternoon) but the problem remained. The common theory was (according to the net) that the problem was caused by some piece of Google software - but I don't use that piece of software.

After hunting around the net for many hours, I finally found a small, well hidden page on the net that advised the solution. The bottom line is that if anyone else here uses Outlook to read their RSS feeds, you will inevitably confront the same problem I did at some point in time. The solution, dear friends, is to find where your Outlook temp RSS files are written (the quickest way to identify the folder location is to search your registry for Outlook entries (mine is at HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Outlook\Security) then open the folder and clear it out. Presto. All is well again.

When I bought my first web capable poota, I tried to use outlook.

So much trubl, I uninstalled and have never been back.

Never missed it.

Very handy though, Pete - calendars and reminders, some very useful email functions and excellent for browsing feeds. Now that I have been able to identify this particular snag, I'll be happy to continue using Outlook. My one gripe is that I was quite happy with my old Office 97 suite, but when I got Vista (and same would apply to Windows 7), those clever folk at Microsoft prevented old office systems from working with current computers. So it was a forced upgrade for me (although I did it on the cheap), and the bonus was the quality of the Outlook software.

Mite give it another bash sometime.

Never know.

I'm so bloody bored at work, I've turned back to Bedlam...........Sigh my life is nearly over.

Why is your life nearly over?

I'm 61 and don't even consider I've turned into the home straight yet.

Sorry

Just bloody bored and turned the young pups age of fifty........... It's a hormone thing.

Yer just kids, young whippersnappers.

I have 10 years on Scead...

You don't see many whippersnappers these days. People tend to make do with the lawn mower.

Keep this up lads. All these " whip " mentions will flush Tiggs out into the open with an expected shaggy dog look on his face......

Don't mention the sp**k p*ddles...

Spock piddles.........It's a Star Trek thing.

I think i spoke too soon

Oh dear Patsy......... Unlucky :)

:) ....... this getting a bit scabrous

This thread is marching on to its 5,000th post. So here's my random thought - as suggested in a different thread. Let's revisit the idea of upping the ante for entry to Bedlam from 500 to 1,000 or perhaps 1,500 posts. And let the following qualifications apply:

1. No cat owners (too much pussy talk).

2. No suspected sheep sh*ggers (sorry - but that rules all Kiwis out)

3. No persons possessing superfluous extremities (there go the Tasmanians)

4. No smiley haters (too much pussy talk).

Okay, okay - I've been a bit rough with some of these requirements. Omit the first three.

Pot calling kettle black, eh Ping.

Ockors like a bit of rustic too.

Nah - kangaroos are dog food... or they used to be. Funnily enough, these lovely vermin are starting to hit the supermarket shelfs - at prices higher than beef! I suspect it's to cater for new Aussies and people who like to be 'different' (pseudo yuppies), because it is definitely not a great eating meat. It's all about the marketing. Remember when you could buy cheap ringbone steak? The clever marketing people in the big smoke came up with the idea of rebadging it as 'osso bucco' (after the dish of the same name that uses that cut of meat in European cooking) and doubling the price. It took off like a rocket - again, I suspect, due to the gullibility of the 'hey look at me' polyester suit brigade.

I'm with Ping.

There should some form of reverse psychometric testing as well as a post count.

Any form of sanity, liking for fizzy beer, constant handstands, or claiming to be female and you,re out !!!!

Edit for time to dig trench, or small size nuclear bunker.
