Could be wrong here but it's my guess that the majority of Americans currently retired in LOS are not depending upon their social security cheque but receive the bulk of their income through private pension plans, investments etc.

Maybe in future LOS will attract the bottom of the barrel Americans that depend on social security but for now I guess that slot is reserved for the Brits and other Europeans.

And neither am I. As usual, discussion of non-Thai politics and especially US politics pretty much always goes downhill with anti-American sentiment. As such, this topic is .....
