I Cant Believe Its Nearly Ten Years

Featured Replies

wow. this morning i received my daily news from australia and saw that on november 22 its ten years since Michael Hutchence died. how time flies. i remember it as if it was only yesterday.

ive spent some time today watching videos of INXS including some great tributes on You Tube. it makes me so sad to know that such a great talent was wasted on that fateful morning ten years ago. (yes, i did have a little cry today about it)

i had the fortune to see INXS a number of times down the local pub for five bucks on a sunday night, and can tell you that Michael Hutchence was one sexy man! dirrrrrty sexy i mean. that man was amazing and larger than life.

i remember when i was in high school one of my class mates came to school so excited because she had met him the day before and interviewed him for a local radio station. i think it was from that day on that i loved him. i think that we all have a crush on a rock/pop star, and he was my first 'adult' crush i guess and this lasted until....now i guess. i always wanted to marry that man. (my first crush was David Cassidy and i would still marry him if he asked me).

my last encounter with INXS was in Singapore just last year when they played at Fort Canning with their new front man JD Fortune. i know that a lot of people have bagged JD for his performances with the band, but i actually loved him. he was sexy, didnt appear to be trying to replace Michael Hutchence, and the band seemed to have a fantastic time playing that gig.

so what do you guys think about the INXS of old and the INXS of new? and what are your memories of Michael Hutchence? who found him hotter than Robski?

(yes, i know its not a thailand related topic, but this IS bedlam after all)

I was in college when INXS hit it big in the US. dirrrty sexy man is an excellent description :D

I loved INXS then, but haven't heard the new guy. Its tough to replace lead singers, esp ones with such charisma and presence.

I read that they are filming a movie about him, rumors Johnny Depp was going to play him but apparently not true :o

yeah, JD has big shoes to fill. but i loved watching him live too. sexy (for a little bloke) and he has a great voice. i have to say that Johnny Depp would be the one person i COULD see playing Michael Hutchence in a biographical movie.

i think the only REALLY successful band to replace a lead singer would have to be AC/DC - another good Australian band! in fact, they were my first 'live' music experience. i remember waking up and the windows of my bedroom were shaking. it was AC/DC playing TNT at the local high school over the road!

I think you will find that the lead singer was born Gateshead next to Newcastle upon tyne, UK as my brother scored with his daughter alot of years ago and in the end she married a postman...

Brian Johnson Info

I actually don't have much sympathy for the way he left his daughter without a father like that. That poor kid had two self-indulgent parents who left her an orphan by their own hands. Hope she's doing better with her step parents.

i think that the reasons for his death will never really be known. i did a lot of reading today about it and he did have drugs in his body, but im not convinced he wanted to die on that morning.

paula yates - well i think she died from a broken heart essentially. i dont know how anyone could do drugs with a young baby, but then im not in her shoes, so i will never understand that either.

still, the world is a better place for having Michael Hutchence with us for a short while.

  • Author

i didnt realise that either!

Let's keep it in perspective, he wrote some decent songs then hung himself (or died while masturbating with a belt around his neck, depending on which scenario you believe.). Not exactly heroic. Plenty of people who cure diseases, fight fires, work in emergency rooms, and keep clean so they can be a proper parent (these people actually do make the world a better place), who won't be mourned the way this questionable figure is. Funny how we chose heroes these days.

  • Author

i dont disagree with you cdnvic but i loved him well before his death.

sure, there are true heroes, and they are not necessarily loved any less than the superstars are. superstars are adored by millions, but its not a 'real' love. if they were regular people, they would not have this league of people following their every move.

the 'true' heroes are truly loved by those who know them and dont seek any fame for what they have done. a friend of mine recently spent the night in the middle of the jungle retrieving bodies from a cave. HE is a hero in my eyes. so is my nephew, who is a volunteer firefighter.

but lets not detract from the original topic which was me saying that Michael Hutchence was bloody hot!

I am Rabbit Hutchence and I have a pair of big floppy........

ears.

Who cares how he died... he was sexy and gorgeous and wow and it was a pity but life happens---

is it really ten years, i was so young and i just u tubed him and he really is the man

I may sound stupid but it is almost like Paul Rodgers from Bad Company taking over the voice and whatever from Freddie Mercury in Queen

Sorry to say this Donna, but the subject of this topic just happened to be born with a pretty face and a passable singing voice, that does not make him a hero.

Knocking off one of the biggest slappers of the UK celeb industry doesn't make him a hero either.

There are probably thousands of men out there with the same looks and the same if not better voices, they just never get the grooming....... celebs are manufactured..... hero's are born.

Who cares how he died... he was sexy and gorgeous

If some guy who was not famous acted like he did would any of these women want him living in the neighbourhood? Seems a bit shallow that if he's good looking he gets a pass on acts that would make him despised if he were a factory worker with a plain face.

Agreed, i take back all previous mentions of him. I didn't start the thread so don't attack me about it. he was a sexy person and i stand my case therein. Whether he did himself in in a strange way went to his grave with him and i hope that little habbibbi hyacinth whatever will remember her daddy as a good daddy. And that bob geldof will as well.

sheesh.....lighten up you guys. all im saying is that.........oh never mind. the women here know what im saying.

there are numerous women in the world that are put up on a pedestal by men also, and im not criticizing you for doing that. i dont think that he was stereotypically gorgeous, but he had sex appeal. take a look at mick jagger for example. not the most attractive man in the world aesthetically by most peoples standards. but that man is sexy. he has charisma.

if we are talking heros here....well thats a different kettle of fish and probably worthy of another thread altogether.

(perhaps i should have put this in the ladies forum!)

No, you did well. And he was a real sex god apart from the fact that he had acne... and he was an aussie. but i have been u toobing him and he seems to be up there with the rest of them, so lets all give him his dues.....

I just thought of him as a perpetual zit factory........ :o

Still cant work out why he took up with that slapper Yates.....he had, had so much better...

Must have had a big one.... :D

This pretty well sums it up. One of the more memorable artists from the late 80's/early 90's, but would this be the case if he was still amongst us?

Wow, nowhere in Donna's OP did I see the word "hero" mentioned at all. Re-read her OP guys and then you will notice the words "Hot" "sexy" and "crush" but nowhere is the word "hero" or the idea that she admired his sexual antics. Lighten UP!!!

And seems all a bit double standard to me here, guys slobbering over titillating photos of girls in multiple threads but a woman starts a thread about a singer whose music she liked and that she found sexy and god help her for saying so since the man wasn't Gandhi.

sheesh

And seems all a bit double standard to me here, guys slobbering over titillating photos of girls in multiple threads

Find a post where I slobbered over titillation...... :D

No double standards. I just don't believe people should be given a pass for poor behaviour because of fame (male, female, or whatever). Naive for sure, but I still believe it. :o

Haven't got a clue about who inx or that guy are....got some pictures or links?

Hong Kong schoolboy. Never really made good.

'Kick' is still on my Ipod play list today, "Devil Inside" is a classic. I'm not sure about this JD fella his voice is nowhere near as good as Hutchence's, I watched that Rockstar INXS series all the way through and thought there were better singers out there, but perhaps not in keeping with their image, which seemed to be the most important thing to them.

Oh as for why he hooked up with his wife, I seem to remember a rumour that it had something to do with the manner in which they first met. i.e. the back seat of a limousine, no introductions, no words exchanged = :o

The guy was good indeed, had a fatal fetish and Bejonce Knowles looks better.... :o

what did he do that was so despicable? other than live a 'rock and roll' life? ok...he did some drugs, the way he died was a 'rock and roll' way to die. but he wasnt a murderer, he was loved by his friends and family and has lived on in the hearts of many.

he was a human being who made some mistakes. unfortunately his last one was fatal.

but, i still say he was one dirrrrrty sexy man who knew how to entertain a crowd.

if we want to get into nitty gritty, elvis had a bad drug habit, he was a womaniser, he didnt die in a 'good' way, yet he is still mourned by millions.

anyway, i loved him, and im sure that many others did too. thats my opinion and im entitled to it. as you are to yours. maybe we will have to agree to disagree on this point.

Never Tear Us Apart

INXS

Don't ask me, what you know is true

Don't have to tell you, I love your precious heart

I, I was standing

You were there, two worlds collided

And they could never tear us apart

We could live for a thousand years

But if I hurt you I'd make wine from your tears

I told you that we could fly

'Cause we all have wings but some of us don't know why

I, I was standing

You were there, two worlds collided

And they could never ever tear us apart

I (don't ask me) I was standing (you know is true)

You were there (worlds collided) two worlds collided

(we're shining through)

And they could never tear us apart

You (don't ask me) you were standing (you know is true)

I was there (worlds collided) two worlds collided

(we're shining through)

And they could never tear us apart

I, I was standing, you were there
