Ubc Replacement Set Top Box

Featured Replies

We have a 3 year old UBC set top box which we use to watch the free channels my wifes just told me she had to turn it off becuase it started to smoke, anyone know if theres anywhere I could buy a replacement maybe used as I don't think we'd get one from True without subscribing, although I've asked the question.

Thanks for any help.

I have a UBC/True subscription and I pay rent for the box,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,the old one smoked and I took it to the True shop and they gave me a new one,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Any local sat equipment store should have a selection of replacement STB's..

Thanks for the interest, problem is we don't subscribe just watch the free's, so I think it's a trip to a satelite dealer and try for a cheap replacement.

Free channels......... I dont get any channels at all now that I have stopped subscribing. Is this because I rented the box ? If I could still get the free channels this would keep my wife happy

We stopped subscribing two and a half years ago and we still get all the Thai channels for free ( or used to till it blew up yesterday ) but you've still got to have the card in.

Any cheap digital satellite receiver with an Irdeto card slot should do the trick, take your card and ask to see it working.

Yours is probably repairable so take it along to your local TV man (not a True shop).

Thanks for the info again the wife took it to the local dealer in our town and to my amazement since we don't have a subsriction just the card for the free channels they took it for repair and said it would take about two weeks, the down side is I've now got a wife with lots of free time on her hands for two weeks to give me grief.

WARNING WILL ROBINSON! When commercial TV went on strike in the UK some years ago there was a significant peak in the birth rate about nine months later :o
