Hello all,

I would like some help/advice about possible visas for myself to live in thailand for a period of around 2 yrs starting febuary-march. I am a male Uk resident 32 yrs old.

During some travelling I met and spent some time with a thai lady aout 8 years ago and kept contact after i left. about a year after she married a german gentleman and moved to germany. Around June last year we stepped up the contact and arranged to meet up in August, from that time we decide to form a more permanent relationship and were a couple by october. My fiance then left her husband and we moved together at the end of december 2006.

My fiance is currently 3 months pregnant, living with me on a tourist visa which expires in august 2008. However, we are not married , her husband and her will start divorce proceedings around febuary 2008, after which time we intend to get married.

My fiance also does not like the Uk so much and my questions are.....

Is it possible for us to return to thailand for a period of around 2 years with us having our child there?

What visa would i need , and how would getting married (over there) affect it ?

What is the proceedure to obtain the visa and how long would it take to get (approx) ?

If we were married, would it be possible for us to return after some time (1-2 yrs ) and live in Germany?

Thanks very much in advance for any help/advice. If i need to provide more info, just ask, thanks again.

Once you are legally married you can apply for a Non Immigrant O visa to visit Thailand with your spouse.

Application time 2 days

When you arrive you will be given a 3 month stamp.

You can extend this visa a year at a time, IF you can show a combined family income of 40K baht per month.

You can go immediately to Hull and get a one year non immigrant "O" visa which will give you 90 day stamps. You can renew that but not in neighbouring countries after 15 months (you get your last 90 day stamp just before your visa expires).

If you want, you and your wife (after marriage) can pay tax on 40k per month and live here (in Thailand) permanently though you would not be allowed to work. You would still need to jump through the visa hoops to take her to europe.

Yes. Get the 1 year Multi Entry Non O Visa from Hull. Reason , to visit friends and fiance. This will give you up to 15 months stay but will need you to hop over the border and come back every 90 days. You can apply for this by post and get your passport back within a week

When you are married you can get yearly extensions if you and your wife can show a monthly income of 40,000 Baht.

To work you would need a work permit.

I'll echo the Hull non-o solution, piece of cake and very friendly outfit.

If, once in the country, you find a job you will be able to attach a work-permit to this visa and be fully legal :o
