Sawatdee khrap,

I would like to know if it's possible to make a pre-birth declaration of paternity? In France it's possible and I already did it, but is it possible in Thailand that before the certificate birth I already have a paper telling I'm the father?

How can I claim to be the father if ever my name is not on the certificate birth?

Thanks for any advice,

Kob

First of all, as the father, your name WILL be on the birth certificate. Just make sure it's spelt according to your preference and/or somewhat correctly as your name would be in Thai on the document.

So this is not the issue.

The only issue is, for SOME countries (not sure about France), IF you're not legally married to the mother, AND if the child is to receive your nationality and passport, THEN you need to make such a declaration PRIOR to the child being born.

If this is the case, contact your embassy or consulate for the details. It will likely involve translations of the usual documents and a declaration that the mother is not already married.

So first stop: Your embassy.
