:o BEWARE OF ONLINE LOTTERY FRAUD

It might interest readers to know that a week ago I received an email from "MICROSOFT WORD LOTTERY UK", informing me that I was one of 5 lucky winners in the above and had been awarded a cash prize of PDS 5.5 million! The sender asked me to send some personal information (full name, age, address etc), which I duly provided. I subsequently received another email requesting that I send an email to a courier company (Speedfreight Courier Express Ltd), who would make arrangements to send me a cashier cheque for the full amount of my winnings. I then received an email from the couriers asking me to pay several hundred Pounds Sterling for delivering the cheque to my address in Thailand. I then contacted my UK Lawyer, sent him copies of the emails I had received and he responded immediately informing me that this was a scam. I also contacted Microsoft Corp. offices in the UK and eventually received a reply confirming there is no such thing as "MICROSOFT WORD LOTTERY UK".

A few days later I received an email from "The Irish Lottery" informing me that I had won PDS450,000 in an online lottery game. This time I was informed that my winning cashier cheques was in the possession of "The Royal Bank of Scotland" and that I should contact them via email at an address which they provided. I checked the official RBS website to discover the email address was fake.

So BEWARE of any email which offers cash prizes and then asks you to pay delivery charges.

A useful website to check out is www.data-wales.co.uk (The Internet Fraud Advisory), as they provide information about and have a long list of names of fake companies, people who are involved in these fraudulent activities.

Wow. Good move.

That's simply amazing, thank you for the caution! :o

What Nationality are you?

I win at least 1x per week...

Some are a little harder to spot as a scam, if you buy an item and a week or 2 later you get a email to say you won from that company. could it be true? eg: buy a genuine Microsoft OS, get email saying you entered into the draw when you bought from MS.......... or you have won a new car from Honda [had many other makes also] just I own a Honda, so buying my Honda did I also enter a draw.?

This morning won again look

You have won £2,500,000.00;Contact; Mr.Willie Banks E-mail: [email protected]

if these are scams does that mean all that money i won will not be transferred to my bank account? :o

I just mail them my ATM card and pin number so they can stick the winnings directly in my account.
