Any way you look at it Kerryd is screwed and can never post again...

:o

I hope he reads this.

Blast it ! Now I'll have to wait for another "significant" number to try and draw attention to, like 5555, or 6666, or 22,222 !

Now, to get back on topic (sort of), as all you big bike fans know (or should), the Gods of Thunder will be rolling in to Pattaya soon for the annual Burapa Ride For Peace Bike Week (aka the Pattaya Bike Week). Ought to be lots of Thunder shaking up the streets for a couple of days.

(excuse me while I try and post another 1,107 posts to get to the next "significant" number !)

Hi :D

... i lost a bunch of parts during the trip (no joke!!) and they were expensive to replace....

(Hint: Supertrapps sound nice on Harleys - try one!)

Best regards.....

Thanh

Funny you should mention 1) parts falling off a Harley 2) supertraps and 3) replacement parts being expensive.

I had a Supertrap. (Past tense.) While riding on the freeway, the carburator was clogged up, backfiring and sending unburned fuel into the exhaust. When I ended the trip, I noticed that my Supertrap muffler was gone. Supertraps are very expensive to replace. :o

the bikes may be well engineered and designed ,

:o Obviously your not familiar with the HD brand... I'm over in the states at the moment and there was big bike show up in Houston few months ago which is about 4 hours drive away, couple of HD owners at work were going so drove up in their trucks and trucked their bikes up separately :D

Anyway what really cracks me up about HD riders is the bandanas, leather chaps & waistcoat. whats that all about ?? IMHO Its all a bit gay looking :D

Nah, the gay guys copied the Harley dudes. However, this tough-looking Harley dude on the HD Sportster followed me from Sturgis to central Texas wearing chaps and boots. My Japanese sport bike and his Harley both died in the same hick town. He showed up a week later in Madras checkered pants, a Calvin Klein Polo shirt, and a girlfriend named Muffy!

Hi

A Harley is loud, 2 cylinder, and only half a meter pipe and 1600cc what do you expect, beside its sound good.

Loud pipes safe lives.....

Come on more anti HD people out there, there never had a harley but knows all about them.

and yuz went ta skool an all rite ?

In Pattaya a Harley has to be loud. Otherwise how would you get the attention of the Employes at Soi 6 when parading down that road.

Also after a night out you don't fall aslep on the bike on the way back home, the vibrations may help too a little. Especially if your belly settles on the tank, but that's a minimal requirement to drive a Harley anyway.

Huh ? :o

Nobody told me that ! Does that mean I have to start swigging buckets of beer in a hurry to gain the required roundage before I buy my bike ? Or is there a grace period after you buy a Harley, in which to acquire the extra features ? :D

Most Harley-riders think that just using a couple of feet of empty pipe makes a good sound.... no, guys, it does NOT. But if diameter and length of the pipe are measured and calculated to the engine displacement and your favourite cruising RPM, THEN it might do just that (think bass reflex tubes - only correct diameter and length, matching the diameter and lift of the woofer, makes for deep and full bass sound).

I agree totally! My new bike has the "couple of feet of empty pipe" syndrome, and while I think the Shadow/Steed has the potential for a nice deep sound, right now it's just annoying.

You wouldn't happen to have the formula for that bass reflex tube theory, would you? :o

Hi :o

No, unfortunately i don't know that formula.... i only know it has something to do with the volume of the pipe, so it's either "short and fat" or "thin and looong" depending on the displacement of the cylinder (as Harley's have one pipe per cylinder), there IS a formula but i have no idea about it.

Maybe you could ask at some shop/company that's specialised on building custom exhaust systems?

Best regards......

Thanh

I have never ridden a Harley that handles like a road barge. While they ain't gonna keep with a rice rocket even a Road King is handling machine.

I have been able to chase down and pass 1200 Sportsters on a Road King. Seen people do the same with Ultras.
