Loma Hotel is on Soi 18, about 1.5 km from the maim Pattaya Naklua Road. Without transport it is probably too far out of the way if you are remotely interested in going out at night.

There are multiple building projects going on around it, and even at 500baht a night I wouldn't recomend it.

The Woodland resort is in a much better location around 50 yards from the Dolphin roundabout. It is located on the Pattaya Naklua road. Only a 10 (or 5!!) baht ride on the circuit. Not stayed there so can't comment further.

What on earth happened to the reply that I posted? Who is the half witted mod that erased it and didn't bother to note his blunder?

Anyway, I recommended the sister resort to the Loma; http://www.greenparkpattaya.com/

Internet access? I don't think so.

Woodlands has a few too many buildings. The location is fine though, on the corner of the street that Green Park Resort is situated.

The majority of bars in that area are German the hotel I stayed in once (Romeo Palace) was full of them and IMO they are the most ignorant people in Pattaya

Get further south (Big C and down) and you should have a better time

If you go too far south (walking street area) you may find yourself in the Arab area

With a month you will have a good chance to look around at what is on offer.

Just book in your first hotel for 2-3 days, then you can move if you find somewhere more conducive and with a better location.

You could try the Lek Hotel, which is on the Second Road in South Ptty.

It's on the Beach side on the Second Rd so you won't have to cross it on your way back at night. (The Second Rd has constant traffic and is tricky to cross, esp if you've had a skin full).

Pattaya is quite a big place and feels even bigger than is actually is to a first-timer, so you might like a hotel within easy distance of where you want to go at night.

Try this link for a good map of Ptty.

REcommend Green Park Resort.

Stay there years ago.

IF you want to relax stay by the swimming pool at night pick up a tuk tuk or samlor at the main road(dolphin runabout) and you're already in the nightlige.

Agree with Valentinoxxx

Just cross the road you have plenty of restaurants cheap one if you don't want to eat at the hotel.

Just in front the hotel there's a family restaurant. Just ask what you want to eat they will go to the market and buy for you. I'd excellent dinner and lunch either there or in the hotel (takeaway) and very cheap.

Nearby you have a supermarket or just go a little far you will find the BIg C.

And within 3 minutes you reach pattaya beach road.

I found the location excellent.

That's the second post of mine, on this thread alone, that has been deleted. Who's the mod here? Why have they been deleted?

Re. Green Park: If you can't be bothered to walk the 100 metres to the main road, there is always a motorcycle taxi waiting by the security box. In addition to this, they can call you a taxi if going further afield. I paid 60 baht for a songthaew to take myself and female companion to Third road as the roads were flooded. Didn't need to get my feet wet, as it came all the way to the resort foyer to pick me up.

It is my first time in Pattaya I want to be near the action but not on top of it.

Have a look at Mr. Mac's Hotel - just outside South Pattaya on Thappraya Rd. (road to Jomptien and on the Baht bus route).

This is a good, clean 3-star establishment - privately run. Rooms are large with air con and king size bed. Party size shower as well. There is a restaurant and internet cafe attached. Absolutely no problem with guests staying overnight. Possibly not the cheapest at about 800 Baht but very good. I have stayed there twice and I now get a deluxe room for the price of a standard!

Only slight problem is a lack of swiming pool - but there is a sun terrace. :o

Lek and Welcome Plaza are centrally situated, but without too much activity at night within hearing distance of your bedroom.

Same goes for some of the fancy hotels, Marriott (Royal Garden), Siam Bayshore, Hard Rock. But they are more expensive.

If you are looking to buy a place for retirement, make yourself known to estate agents such as East Coast Realty and Northern Thai, both opposite Royal Garden Plaza on Second Road.

Don't book a month at one place - after a few days in Patty you'll find many nice hotels / guest houses with good accommodation at low prices, just socialise.

Good luck, enjoy your stay. (It may be wet at the start, October is the back-end of the rainy season)

One suggestion I do have is to start reading the Pattaya Mail online before you go. Pattaya has literally hundreds of hotels, many with websites. Do a search using Pattaya + hotels and you will see what I mean. Remember, many of the lesser priced hotels do not have websites yet. In the Pattaya Mail you will find groups and organizations that welcome ex-pat visitors and residents. Two that maybe helpful are the Pattaya Sports Club and The Ex-Pat Club. Their web address are listed in the Pattaya Mail. I would just book a moderelately priced hotel in the Lek-Apex-Diana Inn part of Pattaya. All three are decent hotel and have pools. This is walking distance to the beach and entertainment areas. Also you are right on Second Road for the bus and baht bus pick-up. Once there, network with your fellow ex-pats and they will have ideas of where to stay at a good monthly rate. Good Luck. :o

I love staying at AA hotel on Beach Road right by Pizza Hut rooms are clean and have a great little swimming pool overlooking the beach. Bit more than Lek Hotel at 650 baht a night but well worth the 2 Pound more.

I recommend Scandalic hotel Soi Skaw Beach, free wireless internet access in the hotel and two free internet stations in the restaurant. They have big rooms and apartments.

Contact Lelle on www.scandalic.nu He will reply to u quick.

It’s a golfer’s hotel with international food, Scandinavian food and Pizza.

All rooms new renovated and the apartments are ready this week.

Highly recommended located just of second road opposite Siam Bay shore Hotel.

Welcome to Paradise.

But don't think about only taking a Hotel with inroom internet access - there is only one and that is the Marriott (at least as far as I know - they charge 672 Baht for 24 hours - that is for ADSL 512/256 with either USB or ethernet connector).

But if you mean using the phoneline to dialup - you can do that at most hotels but you would want to make sure that they do not have a "cut off" policy which cut's your call after 20 to 30 minutes, many hotels do this. Then you could get a prepaid dial up package from almost all providers with a local access number,

see a list of ISP's Links for Thailand here:

http://bangkok2day.com/portal/component/op...mid,4/catid,77/

there are others maybe but it is a start.

cheers
