Lawyers Buriram

DOES any body know of english speaking lawyer in buriram need to a couple of agreements drawn up thanks

English Speaking lawyer is NOT the same as a lawyer who can UNDERSTAND English. You can ask at your bank, appliance shop, various shop owners who speak and Understand English if any practicing attorneys in Buriram UNDERSTAND English. I wasted time, very little money on two Thai attorneys in Buriram who claimed to speak English, but they sure did not Understand English. One had an office very near the railroad tracks near the Government Hospital and he brought in a translator who understood and spoke English very well. This attorney quoted a VERY high price for simple papers which were drawn up for far less money by an experienced American attorney who speaks, reads and writes Thai as well as his native English. The other "English speaking" attorney in Buriram that I encountered has an office on the ground floor of a 3 story shop house near a music store on Saen Suk Road, around the corner from the Bus Station. I asked him in English "How are you today?" He replied "I am 26". He spoke English, he did not understand English. Maybe some other Forum members have in fact found a good English "Understanding" attorney in Buriram. It has been my experience you can phone or e-mail questions, pdf forms, etc.. to Bangkok and receive an email attachment back for many forms. It is tough enough when things get "Lost in Translation" with my wife, it can be a hazard with an attorney who is not a native English speaker.

Beware of any farang here who 'practice' as lawyers! This is a protected occupation & irregardless of qualifications in their country of origin a farang cannot practice law in Thailand. There are many companies who give the impression that they employ native speaking UK, American etc lawyers, this is not permissable by LAW. You see one of these supposed lawyers; any work is done by an actual Thai lawyer, either in house or contrated out. The client gets the same result & an inflated bill at the end to cover the farangs commission.

Try Sebatien at Isaan Lawyers one of the sponsors of this forum.

He employs excellent Thai lawyers and has a resident translator to ensure nothing is "Lost in Translation".

His office is in Korat but he has been known to visit clients in other Isaan locations.
