I wish I could say I've stood on principal and told the guy to stop and I got out.

Did so once, when we got a taxi from the Banyan tree to home. The guy WAS on yaa baa, we told him to slow down, my wife was preganant and we had no belts in the back, and his response was along the lines of 'we are all going to die anyway'.

Yelled at him to pull over, got out, and didn't pay.

But that was the exception, and when by myself, I still take a chance - which I hate myself for afterwards. When with our daughter and wife, going to the airport we opt for (cue shock horror) AOT limo cars as they have belts, we can fit a child seat, and their drivers seem to understand the concept of passengers valuing their lives.

I got a taxi from sukhumvit to su-wanna-poom last month. guy from ubon driving - absolutely nailed it the whole way ignoring my request to slow down.

what can you do in that situation? sweet FA - jumping out at full speed isn't an option.

You gotta get loud and if need be violent in that kind of situation. Look at it from the point of view that you are being kidnapped.
