Hi Can hte matrix be registered in Thailand ?

I'm looking for a second bike for my GF I'm doubting between the smart and the matrix .The smart is more ailround isn't it ?

charlie

Hi Charlie....

mmmhhh....if you are so good friends with Tiger, why don't you ask them?

I am sure they should know whether a Matrix can be registered in TH.

Alter

Here my story on the Smart.

In 2006 I was in Koh Chang....

beautifully trying to escape from the hectic life of Bangkok.

As I arrived there, at the pier I was offered a Suzuki Best 125cc.

I took it as it seemed the easiest and "best" thing to do upon arriving in the night on an island like that.

(Do you all know how steepy the roads on Koh Chang are?)

;-)

Anyway...this "best" gave me the worst experience ever on a bike.

So, I took the "best" back to the rental centre and to my big surprise,

I was offered a weird and unknown brand of thai-made motorcycle.

It was a SMART 125cc. The rental woman told me:

"It is thai motorcycle. You like?" ...asking me in doubts and fears that I would refuse the offer.

But .....I accepted it after a quick test-ride and...

Woowwww....from that moment on going up and down the dangerous hills of Koh Chang was a smashing jolly-good experience.

This was my first ever close encounter with Tiger brand.

I will never forget it.

So Charlie...

If you are considering a bike for your gf...the SMART will beautifully do.

Good luck,

Alter

Yeah Alter,

CX, I guess it was one is pretty good in off-road. The Matrix discussion tamada is useless. Whatever..... I´m a old modified fellow, it´s my love. The KTM slogan. Ready to race, makes me bored. A bike, which doesn´t needs an personal update, gähn! What do I do in all this long afternoons without tuning?

And also the CX needs a better suspension and a little here, a little there. The scooter fork makes sometimes a feeling (allmost off-road) like ..... help me boys, what is Verwinden is english. And that must be better with the Matrix fork. But for normal riding, on and off-road this bike is absolutly OK. I would buy it again, anytime!

Charlie, your GF will be satiesfied with a CX, if she is min.1,60m. Girls like to get their feed on the ground, I don´t no, for what it´s good, but the most think, that´s important. My wife is only 1,50m and she has problems with that. A Honda dream is lower than the CX. Also a normal smart must be the same height. But there is also a CX-Super Moto, which is also lower and real cool bike.

hi hand dong rider ,

Does verwinden mean digest , swallow ???????? im not sure

Thats why i would like to buy a smart cx coz my thai GF is 1.70 cm very tall for a thai girl furthermore her moped is nearly falling apart.

hi Guys,

so quiet here ...????? Just found this on the net anyone know something more

Victor Laude of Tiger Racing Team won the Philippine Ultimate Street Race.

Tiger racing team had challenged the dominant motorcycles made from Japan and China by fielding Victor Laude the 2008 IR Grand Prix champion to compete the Philippine Ultimate Street Race held at Boomland race track in Roxas Boulevard, Manila, Philippines.

I not want to be disrespectful but this article was posted by the Philippine Distributor of Tiger motorcycles on the Tiger Boxer Motorcycle Club. Tiger Boxer MC

The article, on Tiger Boxer MC is copyrighted to the publisher and login members. It therefore would make questions about this happening would probably be answered by submitting the question to the appropriate question channel on that website

Richard. ummmmm what?

Are you saying that the information posted by a Tiger Distributor is copyrighted (and if that is the case i would love to see your copyright filing with the appropriate authority's). or are you just pissed of the Charlie didn't say where he found the info. if the second is the correct answer then Charlie you really ARE a naughty boy, slapped wrist.

Hi cbrthai,

For some reasons I'm currently, preparing a court injunction with a Philippine website publisher. For that reason, and only, for that reason I posted my comment.

(Boxer Motorcycle Club (http://www.boxermc.info) is complained to the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, and also http://www.boxermc.info and all its articles or information is protected under the European Union Copyright Directive or also called EUCD.

By this the two "worldwide" established legal directives, publishing any articles without source linking or publishing credits is illegal)

Kano 85: Yesterday, I took a close look at a Cop's Boxer 200. Love the silver engine and the ergonomics. A basic naked bike, powerful enough and not so heavy! it should be more than than a much bigger bike when it comes to getting about in town.

To be honest, wouldn't you rather ride something bigger or different than the usual scooter or 100, 110, 125 cc?

Haven't seen a used one for sale yet.

Charlie, how many km on the clock? No issues yet like "it wouldn't start after a rainy night"? And do you think the factory sells a new engine in case one is needed? Having the factory nearby is incredibly useful!

Let me reply.

Last year I asked for a 200cc engine, because it´s similar the same like in my XR 200. The TIGER-Shop in Chiang-Mai said, that is possible, about 30000 TB, what was 5000 more than an new platinum. But I don´t try, not the Tiger, not the Platinum. And if this answer is true??? Who knows in the land of smile? Where every answer is YES.

Hi to anyone of you.

First . If the article is copyrighted sry for that but the article is very unclear not telling any details i looked on the net and didn't find anything useful so i wanted to know more about it sry anyway

I'm still satisfied about my boxers performance 11500 k's on the clock trouble free. Next week i 'll start a trip around Thailand i'll keep you update.

I had one night rain in Umphang one blip as always and my lil tiger roared instantly .

Some (THAI)people told me my bike(inferior TIGER brand ) wont start after a bike wash. Every week i go for a wash. The bike is exposed to high pressure, same story one blip and my engine wakes up .

I'm living in a neighborhood where 5 in the 10 neighbors are working for the police, so in my little sub-soi I meet daily, in the morning about 7 Tiger Boxer 200's. With wondering out of my moobaan, if I need to travel early, I sometimes get got-up into a genuine Tiger Boxer 200 PX travel jam.

In my moobaan, we have the Bangkok's largest police housing project. And we have 2 motorcycle repair centers, which obvious, are specialist in Tiger Boxer repairs. Living in a moobaan where scooters - motorcycles like a Honda Wave are in the minority you could say that the shops here have lots of experience about Tiger Boxer's...

One of this bike repair shops rents a part of our property, and mechanics from my company often help in the next door business. The owner of the motorcycle repair shop is related to me and I promised to assist if needed.

Today I wondered into his shop, basically because 3 days ago it was my birthday and they where holding a party in my name...?? to make a long story, short, I flipped in his customer list and basically he has 400 Tiger Boxer 200 clients...

I was really surprised, any dealer would be happy with clients like this, with my monthly sponsoring, and ... basically I cannot remember when he paid rent for the shophouse ... Anyway, the main line of repairs he does on the Tiger Boxer's are tire repairs and when he lucky he sells some oil...

And he hunkers to the next replacement cycle, because as so much bikes where delivered in so short time... There is a season for every replacement, so my drop-out-of-school mechanic says. All bikes seem to need replacement of sprockets and chains in a window of 2 months... the rest of the year seems a real down season on repair shops.

In my moobaan, we have basically two setups of housing, one is a government condominium, where the bikes are parked outside, in all weather. Second option is a townhouse, where some, not much, have the option to park the motorcycle out of the weather. Most, from the 7 in my little sub-soi only one parks his bike out of the weather. Still of all bikes I know of and all bikes serviced by my black-sheep youngest brother in-law ever showed starting problems... And get it right this bikes are government owned and the bike owners do not care one bit about it....

Compiling on information I actual have, and I very happy to share, and people who want to investigate them-selfs they can. Inside to my brother-in-law administration costs you not more then 50 Baht (including a ice-cooled Pepsi)

the Main problem in Thailand is that the Thais dont want to buy Thai brands(it doesnt matter if its good or not ) . Well maybe they were right about the joker. But the Tiger boxer is a good bike to ride on .

Many Thai men come to me wow nice bike IMPORTED !!!!!!!!

First i say yes Italian design cagiva ..... etc anyone knows the story. They are all optimistic yeah european made good qlty

second i say no its tiger thai made never have problems . Their faces change already .... silly isnt it

my conclusion is . Tiger will only sell in Thailand if they are doing the same as in the Philippines and publicity they only believe their TV. If Tiger isnt good why are they selling well in other countries the next step is JAPAN they shipped already their first bikes so let's see how it develops .....

The only minor little problem i had was my speedo it was fixed for free now .

O, Charlie you worry to much, not get to much stressed, even with sales first figures for the first two months this year Tiger is doing pretty good. First you have to understand that Tiger Motor was born out of the manufacturing of making parts for Japanese brands, they still doing that.

They produce parts and complete "bolt on" produces for a few well known Japanese companies...

Dear charlie....

this color is nice but i believe the colour of your own is better.

wasn't it you to personalise the colour into yellow?

good choice.

(shit....i am typing on this brand new computer keyboard and it is like walking down to hel_l)

why have i changed it, the greed for the new, the need for a better computer, the habit for consumption?

only god knows what i have done.

and only god knows why i believe that the tiger boxer is a great bike.

:-)

Lets face it, its the old skoda equivalant in the car world, the buyers of these bikes will be the same people that would be saying " i dont want power steering or electric windows, more to go wrong ! " .and they are probably right, at least obout these makes we are talking here,.. ( and if it had a tacho it would probably pack up in the first week ! ) :o

Hey Imaneggspurt. How many skodas did you have then?

We had two. Dont remember them being that bad, not like Moskovich and Lada at the time.

Times have move on and there is no reason to think of Tiger in the same category, unless you have specific knowledge to say otherwise.

riding my Boxer 250 Rs on E20

the tiger engineers told me a while ago that the engine is already tuned to ride on E20 hence the sticker on the fuel tank.well after a long time of hesitation and neglecting all kinds of critics i tried it 2 weeks ago. Many people told me less power ,higher consumption , engine failure etc.

I only can say that i don;t feel any difference .same power , same max speed , same consumption yesterday about 3,15l/100 km.

the only downside i experienced is while starting the cold engine must throttle a bit harder to keep the engine going ,till the engine is on temperature mustn't throttle anymore

i dont know on the long run ????

hi there imaneggspurt

here are some pics of my new "skoda"( probably the old one was not so good, but i have the new one and those ones are great...even in the car world) it is my red tiger boxer 250 rs ...it came without electric window and without power steering too but i have rack for topbox, windscreen, extra kickstarter(this as special request - and free) , it runs and looks really nice, easy and comfortable ride with enough power to overtake too......and remember only post something about a bike that you really have driven and tested other wise it may be called "the hot air that escapes your backside:-)"

Charlie just ignore the birdbrains who with precious little if any knowlege of the Tiger boxer product like to slag it off, they merely show ignorance.

My local Thai Mo cyc shop mechanic/owner also said Tiger Boxers were crap, so feeling argumentative that day I challenged him as to what exactly he knew or believed to be wrong with them,

Was Tiger suspension poor & did they handle badly ? answer was no

were the brakes no good ?? answer brakes ok

were Tiger overpricing their bikes, he dident know the prices !!

So ok exactly what the hel_l is wrong with them I asked ??

Now came a big smile & the chance to prove his point show his skilled engineers knowlege & not lose any more face ,

He said uh, "Chinese copy HONDA engine no good " at which point I couldent resist telling the ignorant silly git that the Boxer had a copy of an Italian Cagive motor fitted, not a Honda & maybe he should look at the next cop bike to confirm it, we left the shop laughing.

Charlie the worlds full of people with tunnel vision, I believe Honda, Toyota are built in Thailand amongst several other brands & the Thai people lap them up like mothers milk.

the same people wear Thai clothes live in Thai built houses & eat Thai produced food, as do we farangs & its ok ,

its just a difficult adjustment for Thai purchasers to make that Thailand now has an independant Mocyc manufacturer with an pretty good all round product.

So until that sinks in just carry on sport, simply enjoy your bike, & try to ignore the uninformed comments.

No, in ansa to your question, Charlie I havent got the classic Honda, amazingly the Thai owner guy suddenly just before viewing & probable collection decided it was best to tell the truth.

"cant find the bikes papers yet, but added that if I pay him first it will all be ok & he will mail them !

Er Pardon ! I know Im living in Scam City & Im old, but so far not 100% senile yet.

So still looking for a legally documented Honda Cb / Cd 160 or 175, or Yamaha VFR 250, any ideas ??

I am totally confused about the CB160 / 175.. I mean, late 60's early 70's.. Kinda odd bike to be looking for a classic !!

Now there was some talk about a VTR250 becoming legally imported.. Little mini monster twin thats supposed to handle tight.. every once in a while you see them come up booked and non booked..

Great post Tony, but what in the heck is a Yamaha VFR 250???

I second that..great post. here a link to a VFR 250(to be honest i never heard of it either even i owned before a 2 vfr's 750 ) http://www.bikepics.com/pictures/095857/

Yeah- the link you posted is to a HONDA VFR. Everyone knows Honda has been making VFR's for many years, though the VFR 250 is pretty rare outside of Japan. But tonybroster said he's looking for a Yamaha VFR 250... I'm guessing it's a typo, because to my knowledge Yamaha has never made a VFR.

Happy Trails!

Hi Big Bike, ( & any others )

VFR 250, What can I say !!!

getting old, stupid, senile, head where the sun dont shine etc etc the list is endless.

ok now, as I long long ago got rid of an inflated ego Im publically prepared to eat a crap sandwidge & apologise to all of you guys & gals who read my stupid mistake,

what I meant to say was Im interested in finding a fully legally documented CB or even a model or so later early inclined twin cylinder 125, 160 0r 175 Honda ( Not the C 92 or 95, horrible looking things )

Or as a viable more modern alternative a Yamaha SRV 250, NOT a VFR 250 as previously written, Phew Im glad thats over, sandwidge tasted awful !!

Any help with above appreciated.
