March 25, 200817 yr Well I must sell/trade my beloved Vigo as we are expecting a baby in August. That makes six of us and the Vigo will not do. What choices do I have for 6 seats plus some cargo space? I was looking at a Fortuner Smart (here comes the fortuner bashing) but what else is there that will have a reasonable resale value in the future? What do you guys with big families drive as I want all of us to wear seat belts?
March 26, 200817 yr Another predictable Fortuner owner here. Been very happy with it over the last couple of years. Had a look at the Mu-7 on Monday when we went to pick up our new D-Max, and it seems OK, but pig-ugly! Does the new CR-V have 7 seats too? I remember we looked at the last series, but decided against it as we needed better off-road capability. Do bear in mind that whilst you can comfortable seat 6 in the Toyota, you'll not have much room left over for luggage - and with the seventh seat down, you can't get much more than a couple of golf bags in the back.
March 26, 200817 yr Chevrolet Captiva is another seven seater. There's also MU7 and Thairung's Adventurer based on Dmax, and Ford Everest but they are still previous generation trucks. Later this year Mitsu will introduce new G-wagon based on Triton, that could be a real challenge to Fortuner, though Captivas are getting more and more popular everyday already. Also there's Toyota Wish and, if you have the money, Mitsubishi Spave Wagon.
March 26, 200817 yr Author I really like the captiva after looking at it but resale value and servicing concerns me. TBH I didn't know about the new G-Wagon that may be an option and I have read many good things about the Triton. I was just reading on the web that they will be releasing the new G-Wagon at the motor show this week.
March 27, 200817 yr The Zafira is a 7 seater at a push, similar to the Wish. I believe the new CR-V doesn't have a 7 seat option although the old model did.
