Tiggs!

Cycling from Chonnabot to Ban Phai this morning and I saw this littl'un wobbling across the road with all the traffic just missing him, moments away from being squashed. Dodged the traffic and picked him up and took him home where he polished-off some milk and then dozed-off. He's called Tigger! Well, he is now. So just wanted you to know that you have responsibilities now, Suegha.

I'll keep you posted as to progress. :o

Ah, a distant cousin. Well done micky, you're a kind soul. I hope he's okay, get him checked by a vet and enjoy his company. He looks ver young, post some more photos of him awake.

Tigger is a great name and I'll gladly be his Godfather.

Grace & Peace

Faithful Tiger

Well, first thing to report is that I've had to revise the gender issue; he's a she! Not always straightforward to tell when they're so young but I reckon Tiggs is a girlie. I was finding it hard to get her to lap milk from a saucer as she's so young; she's just not used to feeding any other way than from her mum. But we managed to rig-up something from an eye-drops squeezy bottle and some cellular bandage wrapped around the nozzle. She's pretty happy feeding from that.

When my wife arrived home from work and saw the new addition, she was a little cool at first. She said that she wouldn't have bothered stopping and "rescuing" her. Either "Typical bloody Thai!" or "More practical view of life than this softie farang". Take your pick. But she's now in full-on maternal mode and is fussing over the little mite. So that's ok then.

That is so cute and so small. She doesn't look like she should be away from her mother. You're a special person.

Incredible. The thing's so tiny, I don't know how you spotted it. Call me a mongrel, but I think I would have taken you wife's initial view. It's not weaned - its mother must have been close by (unless, of course, she either had her own dramas or rejected the little one.) All that aside, kudos to you for your humane act.

Woo-hoo!!! Go Tigs! Godfather of the month!

Mick, great job on rescuing her. I'd have done (have in fact done so) the same thing as you, and wish more people would.

She looks so adorable, so innocent. In the very first pic you posted she's even got the head of a mini tiger!

Excellent Mick!

Yeah, she is cute, sure enough. But small? Jeez, you ought to see her now. Her stomach looks like a drum! She's been eating and sleeping all weekend. Great; just as it should be. She has a really loud "meow" and if she has enough energy to make that much noise, she'll be alright, I reckon. As for being a special person, well, thanks but I reckon most of us would have done the same, yeah? :D

She was small, Ping, but it was 8.30 in the morning and I was cycling into the sun so she showed-up quite well, thank God. When I picked her up, I did have a look around for Mum or siblings but she seemed to be all alone. I can't really guess how she got there unless she had wandered quite a way already. She wasn't too dusty but she was covered in red ants though. Apart from that, she's really clean and up-together. Her left eye which had only just opened, I think, and was a bit "weepy" is now fine.

Nice one Mick. Look after her.

Yeah, we are, mate. I think the missus is starting to get a bit jealous. I'm going to have to watch that... :D

Haha, yeah she does, doesn't she? I'll bung some more pics on here as the days go by. Makes a change, doesn't it? I had thought of putting it in the Pets Forum but decided against it as I really can't be arsed to react to WW posting "I wood yuse it four targit practiss" type-posts, you know?

Best place to post it is among friends!

yeah keep her in Bedlam. She could become our mascot?

She must be like a real baby - up all night etc. good luck.

can i be her godmum ?

Sorry i was called fuzzy legs before... so have an affectation to purry persons

I just hope that she is not too small to survive but you and misssus seem to be doing a grand job.

Roll on tiggs, you have lot of love here and at home for you. love from me xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Just be careful feeding that widdle tummy with cow milk. you should perhaps try baby formula or any milk formula with out lactose. I am an not a vet but have seen kitties become ill over cow milk.

Good luck with our little Tiggy

And good on you for having seen her pottering about - just goes to show that there are some sweet and nice people out there with a heart

Yeah, exactly! That's the real reason I posted here, despite my sarcky "WW" comment. I probably don't know anyone on that forum so what's the point of telling them? I sure they're nice bods and all that but, well, you know...

S'funny you should say that; I thought the same thing as I drifted-off last night. But I'm glad you said it as I worried that you'd all think I was going barmy, or something. :o

Patsycat, of course you can be Godmum. Thanks for offering; I had thought of asking you but didn't really know you until now so didn't want to be presumptious. :D Good advice re the baby formula; I'll give it a go although I must say she's putting away the cow's milk with gusto. I was worried that she was so small when I found her on Friday but I think she's (touching wood) a little toughie. I've noticed today that she's a lot steadier on her legs now and she even broke into a trot this morning when she followed me across the kitchen. Mind you, her brakes aren't too good yet. :D

More photos please Mickey, one of her tottering across the floor would be nice.

Yes, photos and if you can do it a wee video of our god given kitty who was saved by a really nice man who risked life and wife to save her.

555, you beat me to it!!! :o

It's 2 weeks since I found her and so I thought it was time for an update. I wish we had some kitchen scales so that I could measure her weight regularly but she's piling on the ounces quite well. She made the cover and centre-spread in the April edition of Fat Felines! Well, not fat, perhaps but definitely a bulging mid-section. She's still drinking just milk although she's started eating solid food now (a bit of canned tuna now and then) so I reckon we'll be weaning her off milk quite soon. Once she's eating more solid food, she'll be better at the idea of drinking from a saucer, I expect. She's been using a baby bottle for milk since her last appearance here which is a lot easier for us!

It's been difficult and a little frustrating to try and take piccies of her. She's pretty much in constant motion apart from when she's asleep. A few times this morning, I thought I'd set-up a really good shot and then she looks up, her curiosity is aroused and the next thing you know, she's climbing all over the camera. :D Yeah, I'll try and take a video of her later when my wife gets home as she'll be able to distract her, hopefully. If it's any good, I'll bung it on.

That's great micky, a vid would be nice. Well done!

I did shoot a small (10mb) video which I tried uploading just now. Just doesn't seem to want to upload though. I'll try compressing it and uploading again. In the meantime, here's one of Tiggs wilting a bit in the heat yesterday.

Fab, can't wait for the vid! Might it be better to up-load it to youtube and provide a link here? Maybe the techy people can help.

Yeah, sorry about that; have had the wife's neices here for the last couple of weeks and the camera keeps getting pressed into use for other, kid-related stuff. She's really growing now with an insatiable curiosity and no sense of fear; a fatal combination. I have to really keep an eye on her as she just tends to run full speed in a random direction and if that was the front gate, she'd be straight out into the lane and either under the wheels of some pickup or into the jaws of next door's dogs. I'm going to have to make the gate cat-proof until she's a bit older and wiser. Trouble is, it's one of these open lattice, sliding gates and I'd have my work cut-out to keep her from finding a way through. But she's really a part of the family now and the girls absolutely adore her and spoil her rotten.

Oh, and she has another name which is being used increasingly. Cooking-fat. :o

A strip of mosquito netting may work.

What, the metal type? Yeah, I wondered about that, Thaddy. There's about a 3" gap between the bottom of the gate and the ground so that rules out using the nylon "sun-shade" netting, you know? But yes, the metal stuff would work, wouldn't it? I could attach it to the gate with zip-loks and it would bridge the gap at the bottom. I want her to be able to explore outside but not out into the lane until she's old-enough and wise-enough to look-out for herself.

Yep, she is, mate!

I've been meaning to update this thread for a couple of weeks with news of the mascot but have been tied-up with this new job.

Here's a recent one of Her Majesty.

I'll bung some news on tomorrow; off to bed now. G'night!

Excellent Mickey. BTW took ages to load, might be an idea to reduce the size a bit.

  • Author

Yeah, I suspected as much. Anyway, how do I reduce the size?
