1 2 Call International Roaming And Checking Balance

Assuming your international roaming is turned on for international roaming for 1 2 call prepaid, can you still check your balance the exact same way and is this a FREE call (*120#) even when roaming? If not, how can you check your balance?

Yep works fine. It even works back in Europe, I have the same sim for years now, and keep it active by making one phone call each three months, I can check my balance at any time in the Netherlands.

And to add, have used my thai AIS sim in Singapore, Malaysia, Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia and Hong Kong, same story as when using it in the Netherlands.

Provided you have registered for inernational roaming, and you have a compatible phone and are getting a signal, and are registered with a network provider then yes, you can check your balance with *121# SEND free of charge. *122# connects you to the call center (not free of charge). You can top up remotely as well, *120*13digitpin from scratchcard# SEND.

Note that tarriffs are quite high when roaming: in the U.S.A.: 75 baht/min for in-coming calls and calls to Thailand; 84.63 baht/min for local calls. Much better to get a local SIM. If you have two phones leave the One-2-Call phone on, log calls/SMSes then call/text back on the local-SIM phone.

actually its *122#, not 120. 120 is for topping-up only, not for checking the balance. and its free, its not really a "call".

it works well everywhere I am. Malaysia, Indonesia, Siungapore, Philippines, Vietnam, China, Camboida and even in Europe....

never had any problems

Well, here is a followup with my experience with this.

I called the 1 2 call people and they did indeed turn on international roaming for me, and this was confirmed by messages and instructions to my phone. They told me AT&T would be my US service. When I landed in the US ... NO SERVICE. I didn't bother following up on it, it just didn't work, at all. Cheers.

Provided you had a GSM1900-capable phone, and AIS/One-2-Call had successfully enabled international roaming and most importantly, were in areas covered by T-Mobile and/or AT&T(nee Cingular), then you should have gotten a signal, been able to recieve calls/SMSes sent to your One-2-Call phone, et al. Typically you would receive two SMSes from One-2-Call when you first turn your phone on, these messages offer guidance (IR Menu) for roaming customers.

I suspect you have GSM900/1800-only phone. What is the make/model of your phone?

I never have an issue, and get signal from both T-Mo and AT&T. Unfortunately no GPRS.
