I found there are a lot of them for sale on mocyc.com but most without green book. Does that present a problem? imaneggspurt Posted January 13, 2009 Share Posted January 13, 2009 The book issue will bring a lot of different advice, ive only had one registered bike in 10 years,ridden all over thailand, my bikes have always had a plate of sorts and in over 50.000kms plus travelling thailand i have NEVER been asked to see the book, been stopped many times for unrelated (non) offenses and paid up and rode off,.the thais ride without books all the time ,and as im in thailand il do as they do, however i will say avoid bkk and the beach side of sukomvit in pattaya,.as for the sr400,ive had one its a good bike, price now seems to be 45-60k, worth it for a good one id say, good luck Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

It had originally been import from Japan and built in Thailand.Thing is I'm trying to trace spares for the dam thing and seem to be struggling alot to find them. One issue is getting hold of a parts list. Could anyone point me in the right direction ? Cheers ! ! imaneggspurt Posted January 13, 2009 Share Posted January 13, 2009 These cheaper (sub 70k ) imports never have proper books,its not financially worth it,it seems to be only farang that worry about it,go to any thai bike meet and you will see what i mean,.also i ride in on/off road bike events and id say 90 per cent of the bikes dont have plates/books,.cops couldnt give a toss, we were in the jet station last sunday and a cop came over and said "where you go" we said now going off road and he said have fun,.if you have money to waste go ahead pay up to 80k to register a bike, you can buy a lot of cups of tea with that !.....i will add if you are a harley type or similar spending 2 million or something then the book price becomes feasable as percentage wise its not a lot, just my feelings,. And have no special aversion to putting a grey book on a bike.. However riding a bike with a 'fake' plate.. eg a plate that has no book ?? Well thats the one where they throw the book at you !! Here on phuket they look for the tax sticker, as you dont have a tax sticker without a book thats the clue they need to impound and demand you bring it.. Riding a bike with no plate is one thing, but a fake plate is a much more serious crime and one I wouldnt do. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Unplated bike, I doubt I could ride a week without getting caught and the end result is probably either loss of the bike or a 10 - 15k fine to get it back.. Quite simply you cant expect to ride an unplated bike around phuket day to day any more, and they know that they are on for a 15k+ score so a few hundred baht isnt usually going to make them leave you alone. Sure up in nakhonnowhere or fukknowsaburi maybe you can have no plate on your daily ride, but not here. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
