After a year of waiting and 2 unsuccessful attempts, my girlfriend of 3 and a half years has just got a Full Student Visa valid for ten months.

Just a couple of questions, as need to book tickets etc and the British Embassy Visa section have a long backlog of replying to emails.

1. Does she need to show a return ticket at UK immigration. (Visa lasts for 10 months. At the end can apply for extension, which would be a total of over 12 months, the longest period of a airline ticket). Dont want to waste loads of money if a single will do.

2. How easy is it to change her course / institution (ie how easy to get approval from UK govt .... Borders and Immigration, who exactly?). She will be studying English at a language school but may want to move to another part of the country after a few months.

cheers in advance

She doesn't require a return ticket.

Applications for variation or extension of her permission to stay are made to the UK Borders Agency (UKBA) and how easy it is will depend upon the circumstances of the individual case. Bear in mind that the longest she can study whilst enrolled on below degree level courses is two years.

Scouse.
