I just bought an XBOX for my son at MBK. Got the usual 3 free games and bought 6 more. Of the 9 only four work and the rest give an unplayable disk message. I'm new to this. Anything I'm doing wrong or is this par for the course on the local scene?

Anytime you buy anything like a game or a dvd just ask them to try it out for you on there machine. I got sick of buying a bunch of dvds getting home to find that, half didnt work and the few that did, didnt always have English. Now I always insist they try them out for me.

Good advice, but I don't think this is a defective disk problem. I just brought in four more disks from another vendor and they all have the same problem. Obviously the Xboxes sold locally are modded and I'm not sure if you have to do anything special to get the games working. I wasn't anticipating this.

Here's an update for anyone thinking of buying an XBOX here in Thailand. The equipment is easy enough to buy, but it seems to be all modded and getting games to work can be problematic. Today I brought back six "unplayable" disks to MBK. They were also unplayable on the unit in the shop, so they went "upstairs" to have them replaced. They brought back new disks that worked on the unit upstairs, but once again they didn't on the unit downstairs. They suggested I take them home and try them out. No joy.

We have five workable games at home and my son thinks he sees a pattern of what works and what doesn't. Whatever, it seems the XBOX ihere in Thailand s a bit of a hassle. I'll get you posted if we get this figured out. Meanwhile, if anyone knows what is going on, let me know.
