Can someone please tell me of a good seafood restaurant in Bang Chang?

Many thanks.

Rom Son at Nam Rin beach.

I had lunch at Rom Son last Tuesday. Yes it is good.

I went to Tommys Bistro to have breakfast one morning but it wasnt open, perhaps next time.

I had a couple meals at The Camel but I think their food has gone off to what it was a few years ago. Just my opinion.

I bought some nice ham at Steves Deli, his meat always seems good and the Cheese cake is something else, one of the best I have ever had.

We actually found this really cool fishing village about 70km outside of Rayong on the way to Kelang. Its very odd because its in the middle of nowhere <On the coast by all the shrimp farms off a naval road with a bike path.

There are always people there in nice cars so its not rustics. The seafood is wonderful because its really fresh catch. We enjoy the ride out every time we go. The do not see to many Westerners out there so the are very polite.

Great Sunday Roast at "Bees Place" near Phala Beach. Head down towards the beach (Tesco Road) and turn left at the telephone box just before the roundabout at the end of the road. (If you miss it go around the r/bout and take 1st right. About 200 metres up the soi on left hand side (just past the large house). No big sign, look for the pale orange container with outside canopy. Today was roast beef/lamb, roast and mashed potatoes, yorkshire puds and 3 veg + gravy. Including 2 beers was 300 baht. Recommended.

I thought that was called 'Tony's Bar'??

Yes its known as Tony's bar. Good food if you can put up with the dogs always trying to steal your plate.

It gets my vote for what its worth.

I found a new Rest last night on the road to Nam Rim Beach. Just before the stop sign there are some shops on the left I think one is a bar but a little rest called Gai's is owned by a lady that worked in Canberra as a chief. Most meals are 50B to 70B and the food is good. And service with a smile from Gai.

It's not difficult to find. just take the main road from Banchang north towards Highway 36. Within 50 metres past the entrance to Green Valley/St Andrew's School take the first turn right, and it's 50 metres up there on your left. If you like Yorkshire Pudding (you get four huge ones) it's worth the trip, otherwise it's nowt special.

There's a new Mexican Restaurant on Payoon Beach Road, just past Sintavee on the other side of the road. Can't remember the name of it but the food is fantastic, and the price is reasonable too. Well worth a visit.

Its called Hontong Grill

Has any members tried Wendy's Bistro yet?

Reviews please.

I went there yesterday evening, mainly because a couple of places where I wanted to go were closed. It's quite attractively set out, the only downside is a bit of traffic noise because it's beside the main road almost opposite the entrance to Eastern Star. The menu is quite extensive, with a bias towards German dishes, although there's plenty of choice besides that, including Thai food. There is a choice of German beers (expensive) as well as the normal selection, and prices of food and drink are reasonably in keeping with other western restaurants in the area. My dish and a small bottle of Heineken came to around 250Baht and the food was quite tasty. I enjoyed it and will almost certainly go there again.

As Wendy's appears to be German owned/financed, I am curious that it has opened up about the same time as Tommy's Bar has moved to about 100 metres up the same road from its previous location in soi Tesco. I don't know if there is some cooperation or rivalry between the two, as Tommy's is also German. I had a couple of meals at his place by Tesco and the food was fine, but it always seemed to be empty when I went past. I hope he has more success in his new location. There seem to be quite a lot of Germans in the area, and it's a pity if they don't support their compatriots' establishments.

Thank you for the report.

I think you will find that Wendys has been there for a long time, Tommy's only moved there a few months ago.

I will give Wendy's a try in the next few days.

Thank again.

Were you at the right place?

I know there's no Thai food as it's a 'Mexican Restaurant'. I've always had a fine feed in there. The Chicken Fajita's are magic - they have chicken inside them.

There's also a very nice laid back Thai restaurant in Banchang, on Sukhumvit, about 80 metres past Tesco, heading towards Sattahip, run by 2 Thai sisters. They specialise in BBQ fish with a leaning towards an Isaan style menu. A wee bit noisy at times, but very rural Thailand. The food I had was terrific and the price was very reasonable. Give it a go.

I went to a Italian Restaurant on Payoon Beach Rd last week. I don't know how some of these places stay in business. I ordered Lasagne, it arrived 40 minutes later, what came was a blob of mince meat spread over the plate with a bit of cheese topping, it neither looked or tasted like Lasagne.

Will I go Back?

"NEVER"

Hey does anyone know of the new place on the Phala round about? The wood house that has been under construction there for some time now has a sign showing "Burger Bus" burgers, coffee and tea.
