Korean tourist found dead on Phuket beach

PHUKET: -- A Korean tourist was found dead on a Phuket beach after diving in to help his drowning child.

The man identified by local police as Han Sang Suk of Korean nationality was found dead on one of the resort island’s weel known beachs.

The 46-year-old Suk was reported to have come to the island on holiday with 4 to 5 other members of his family. Authorities said the man was reported to have jumped into the sea to help his drowning child, but then disappeared and was found dead an hour later on Kata beach in Karon district.

Earlier, two tourists were found struggling in Phuket waters, but were rescued by coast guards and immediately dispatched to Patong Beach Hospital.

Han Sang Suk’s body was sent to Vajira Phuket Hospital to undergo a thorough autopsy.
