What Is The Biggest Misconception The Thai Have About You, Or Farangs?

Featured Replies

What makes you think conquering other races makes anyone more civilized?

I never conquered any other race, nor has many many other people I know. I speak of individuals. Hard to speak for any race don't you think?

lets keep this on topic people

the OP started this topic so that when Thai people that come through on the forum (herself and me included) we can get better understanding of the varied farang groups that are part of our community in Thailand.

so lets keep the discussion there

cheers everyone :o

That the uk is a lovely place to live even though the thai has never been before.

The we do not know how to do anything with our hands...such as mechanical work, carpentry, electrical wiring, etc.

That we hate to get our hands dirty working and should not be allowed to do so.

That we cannot lift anything heavy - outta the way, stickboy! :o

That every little scrape or cut requires us to immediately stop what we are doing and submit to Mom "doctoring" us...with Tiger Balm and a dirty rag.

The scene: Pattaya, Soi 7.

There's a knock on the door, Thai girl asks me to please come and help, boyfriend is in trouble with the police and can't speak Thai.

I ask her her what nationality her friend is.

She replies "Farang! Same you!"

The boyfriend is Italian, speaks less English than Thai; we communicate with Spanish, English, French, hands and feet.

Many Thais think all farangs speak English as their first language.
