dotcom
The police can put her in touch with support groups for battered women. Those groups will be able to offer advice. Last & best resort is to speak with a lawyer, one familiar with immigration issues.
Mossfinn
She can apply for Indefinite Leave to Remain on the grounds of DV, Here is the UK border Agency website advice for DV.
the scouser
Any application for indefinite leave should include as much evidence as possible of the claimed domestic violence. This could be from the police records, including the details of any charge brought against the husband, and medical evidence of any injuries she has sustained. She'll need a solicitor to initiate divorce proceedings and perhaps apply for an interim maintenance order. Depending upon how much she earns, she might qualify for legal aid. Scouse. 7by7
He has been arrested for commiting violence against her? Then there is no way that he can get her 'kicked out of the UK!' Some useful advice above (some unfortunate rubbish as well). Another organisation that may help her is the Citizens Advice Bureau. A local solicitor may also offer advice on how to get legal aid etc.
7by7
Marry some guy, get over, say anything......Get a doctor to write a false medical report and the police to back her up. Yeah, easy.I bet you're thinking that she probably deserved it. Git. Apologies to moderators etc. if this crosses the line, but as my wife was the victim of violence from her first (Thai) husband, this is a subject I feel strongly about. ubonjoe
A wife beater is the lowest form of life on the planet. All the off topic and derogatory comments are not called for. A mod should clear those out. If you want to make off topic comments start a new topic.
sbk
Agreed ubonjoe. Off topic and derogatory posts have been deleted. This is yet another instance where, if you don't have anything of substance to offer by the way of help, then may I suggest you refrain from posting?
