WOW, very beautiful exterior, especially the front and side. Rear taillight design so-so. Unfortunately the interior design is so-so and rather bland looking. Dynamite new metallic RED color - Love it! Overall, very very nice and a Helluva car for the money! #1 Honda quality - Watch out Vios! WELL DONE HONDA!

I am so pleased that it is hardly different from the old one (I own a three year old vtec)

As funny as it sounds, it kind of looks like the new 1 series Bimmer. That's $52k, fully loaded in the US, about 4 million Baht or more if it ever makes it to Thailand, which I doubt.

I was thinking the very same thing myself.

I think the new City looks great, especially with the body kit.

I think the front grill looks a bit lumpy, but there will be lot's of alternatives to make the new City look really great.

If I have a good year next year, I'll buy one for sure.

But, honestly, the Vios is a very tight car and great competition. Even if the City looks good it has to go toe-to-toe with the Vios. That is a big job.

They can't stop copying, can they?

I think its more a case of not daring to be too different. Similar cars keeps the competition close I guess, especially for mass market cars. Looks how similar the camry and accord look, for example. Going too radical could easily cut heavily into the sales of either make. It doesn't matter in niche cars with small sales. Still surprised we haven't seen hardly any diesel sedans here though. The euro accord has had a diesel option for ages (though diesel isn't cheap these days, so maybe people won't go for it so much), though the FC is better.

Front end looks good.

Back end looks the same as before.

Seems the difference with Toyota is the positioning of the instrument panel with Honda keeping theirs on the driver side and Toyota putting it into the middle.

rented the toyota with instrument panel in the middle. that would have put me off from buying it.

Can you explain what you don't like about it? I've driven the Toyotas many times and i have to say that the central instrument panel doesn't bother me at all. I don't love it but neither do i hate it. It's just there and it's certainly easy enough to read.

Actually, previous Accord looked nothing like Camry. I feel like Honda just copied the winning design clues from Toyota for the latest model.

Civic looks nothing like any competitor, and City's front end kinda brings them up together, creating a common theme across the models.

This time, however, I commented on someone saying that rear lights are ripped off BMW, and a shitty BMW at that. Personally, I think they ripped them off new Vios.

I also remembered their advertising line in Europe for the new Accord - almost like 3 series. To which some wise head replied - we don't need 3 series from Honda, BMW does them just right already.

I think it's a part of Honda's philosophy - sell them as cheap copies of great cars made by others, like 300 Baht Adadas at the local Sunday market.

Obviously not all Honda designers and engineers think like that, but sometimes it just shines through.

That was my very first impression on the new City too. I'm quite impressed with the front design, but the rear design seems to live up to the front. It's what the Chinese called "tiger head snake tail".

Probably the origional balanced design had a nice subtle/classey looking bootlip spoiler on it but its been taken off so it can be later fitted as an expensive factory option.

looks better than the old one, but the inside view is still very bland. I like the grill.

accord and camry may look similar, but there are loads of them on the roads, i see more and more accords everyday. that must mean they are both very good cars.

Well sort of describes how i felt, when i saw the pics couple of days ago ! Until i went for the closer look today. Actually i drive Vios here & i'm a very satisfied customer (my favorite car is Mercedes E200) which i rent in Germany from time to time> which i the only place on earth one can legally enjoy the masterpiece.. But back in Thai reality something that i wouldn't regret if scratched by motorbike is more appropriate. And i love the smell of a new car !

So off i went to Paragon, where they've got a dozen of City's// on the display. Yes the top spec is lovely indeed ( i'm 6"3 so i need space). But when i went to see the only manual they offer (and the cheaper one) i felt i was looking at another car ! On the outside it looked the same, but interior .. yuk> no adjusteable driver seat! thinner tyres..(*) almost no change from the old one, which i agree was The Ugliest & The Smallest vehicle on Thai roads !

Now the catch is: the top spec is almost 700k>for which i can choose between Corolla & Tiida which are a class above.

Also no manual option means less agility & fuel economy !

So IMHO all the last 3 versions of Vios are a Helluva car More than the new City> for less money as well !

Really dissapointed.!. Honda should stick to motorbikes instead.. Toyota/Lexus team does better..guess what car i'll get next

(*) to add to the rant less road clearance than Vios. Also Honda only gives 12 month parts warranty! Toyota does 3 (and it's important, because only after a couple of years you're more likely to need new shock-absorbers/wipers/etc,which they replace for free)

I rent a J version vios for a month now and wath a yuk car is that!!! very very bad seats. We go to paragon yesterday also! and in my opinion the city is so much nicer and more space inside than the vios! I think this car gonna be a big succes for honda! and iff you think this car looks like the old ugly model than the time is there for let check your eyes because you need a glasses. And iff you want a nice altis you can not compare the price with the price off the top speck city also.

Reading the small print on both, the warranty appears to be the same on both cars.

The Civic will have a new front end next month + other minor improvements according to reports, so maybe will have the same type or front end as the rest?

To me the new City looks a lot better than the old one + loads better than the Vios [for me no room in the Vios driving area impossible to drive] As for the new Jazz, 3 test drives later + a high trade in price for my old Jazz CVT Sport, The NEW one I just hate it... Now sold and have a Audi. Ok its not the same class/price range, but living out in the sticks and now only driving into the City the max of 3 time a year a small City car is not that important anymore

If anyone ever sees me in one of these or a vios you have my permission to shoot me as i will have gone mad,. the crap cars we are served up with here are puke !, i have no doubt it is a reliable car, however it has as much character as a bearded pipe smoking science teacher,.!,.in the uk you have to be over 70 to own one ,( or should be ),. :o .
