That's a totally absurd post Scea...... I would have expected better from you.

My past is awash with the tears of those who expected better things from me Thad.

Deep and profound scea, deep and profound!

No wonder we get along. :o

We do, we do, twins separated at birth. :D

So which of you is Danny or are you both claiming to be Arnold?

:o

CB

Hmmm... Danny's a bit too elegant for me.

200px-Batman_returns_ver5.jpg

Maybe in his "Taxi" days.

Maybe in his "Taxi" days.

Now that was a comedy.

Anyone remember the name of the foreign mechanic and Red Head?

Good Luck

Moss

Latka Gravas and.... Elaine.

I ran a few of the old episodes on YouTube after I thought of it.

This sequence was a classic... (Reverend Jim's license exam).

Jim [taking a written driving test]: Pssst. What does a yellow light mean?

Bobby: Slow down.

Jim: Okay. What...does...a...yellow...light...mean?

Bobby: Slow down!

Jim [increasingly befuddled]: Okay. Whaaat...doooeees...aaa...yeeel-looow...liiight...meeeaaan?

Latka Gravas and.... Elaine.

Do you remember Elaines long taxi ride with the handsome stranger? De Vito listening in when the stranger offers a rather large tip or for them to stay the night and DV shouts into the radio 'Take the money'.

The scene taken in context was a classic

Moss

I remember to this day the stinging feelings on the back of my tênder fat three year old thighs, after i ran across a busy road - can't blame him can yah?

Agreed, and it did you no harm at all.

We both want to be Danny.

I've pretty much decided on Obama as McCain really does seem to have lost it between his choice for Vice President and accusing Obama of things that are obvious lies.

I just hope that Obama is not lying his butt off about who he is, what he believes and what he is going to do, just to get the job. :o

SOP for presenting a resume these days General.

The truth never gets the job.

As a kid i was thrashed to within an inch of my miserable life for the slightest infraction of the rules. But I knew the rules and the risks I was taking.

Similarly, I look forward to thrashing the living shit out of my own children for the same transgressions. :o

:D Grew up as a lot of you, knew right from wrong and got a severe but fair punishment from either school or parents. ( most of the time at school )

Rules for me were simple

No1 Think about what you are doing and accept every action has a re-action

No2 Don't get caught.

No3 When caught accept the consiquence/punishment.

No4 Never moan about No 3, as breaking No1 got you to No 3 in the first place.

My daugher has been smarter than I and has learned very quickly ( so far ). Took me a lot longer to get the point.

Mabe I was just stubborn. :o

My ex step son was always in the shit at school.

He'd come home screaming about the injustices and I said it was all about accepting the consequences of your actions.

If you're not going to do your home work it's a conscious decision on your part and you're fully aware what the end result will be.

If you don't like the consequences then do the homework etc.

And did it work?

I've been watching this thread develop.

Would you like my opinion? you're going to get it anyway.

Chastisement or punishment should always be lacking in two things.

1. Anger.

2. Self satisfaction.

Be it a 'go to your room' a cut off of privileges, or a smart rap on the back of the legs.

Moss, kids are control freaks, once they get the upper hand, you are doomed...... by all means promise never to smack your child, but don't make it a binding agreement.

I grew up in a society where corporal punishment by adults against children is illegal, and I don't think Sweden is any worse off today than the UK or Australia where it was still legal during the same period of time.

We tend to go with what we know. Since I've seen it in action and was raised that way myself, I know it is fully workable.

I only know two people from Sweden.

They are the most aggressive and violent drunks I have ever met..... can't think why.

Maybe a combination of the prohibitive cost of alcohol at home and a total lack of discipline.

The wife also agrees with the non-physical teaching methods, but I am a work-in-progress on these matters.

Good Luck

Swedish merchant seamen on a run ashore are the scariest people on the planet :o

That Swedes drink themselves crazy, sad as it is, is nothing new, and completely unrelated to outlawing corporal punishment. See your history books (unless they were torn, stomped, chewed, raped and burned in the raid). :o

I thought Swedes were into birching each other after a sauna anyway. :o

That's the Finns, mostly. Everybody knows about the S/M practices of UK MPs though. Could it be they were caressed with one hand and spanked with the other as children? :o
