I Hate Getting Ripped Off By Phuket Tuktuks!

what's the deal with these guys? these sobs want 150 baht to go from karon to patong,120 baht to go from karon to kata, and i was charged 400 baht to go from phuket town bus terminal to karon(although it was at 4:00am) last year!

in pataya and changmai songtaus run 10 baht for a ride. hiring your own for these same distances would run 40-50 baht.

i heard there is a big baht bus that runs from phuket town to the beaches. can anyone fill me in on where and when to get this ride and how much this one costs?

That's the Tuk Tuk mafia, in the 12 years I have been coming to Patong the price has gone uo by 1000% or even more, now they would like to charge by the number of persons as well

Songthaew (bus)

These (Blue) buses run daytime (7:00 - 17:00) between the beaches and Phuket Town (Terminus,Ranong Road near market) and cost 10-30 baht. However, these buses do not travel from beach to beach, instead, you must first go to Phuket Town and then change to a bus with your final destination. To stop a songthaew on the street you should wave with your hand or wait for the bus at one of the stops (huts) along the road.

The is most certainly a bus that runs from Patong Beach to Phuket City....Unless the responder doesn't cononsider there larest beach in Phuket a beach. True that you'll need to change busses in Phuket City but I pose that the 200 to Kata/Karon via Tuyk is better that 15 baht to Phuket Ciuty and another 30 to Chalong and then back to Kata....Cheaper ain't always better, as I often say

so, let's say i'm already at karon beach. can i catch this big sangtaew bus to phuket town? if so, where is the pick up? the circle? anywhere on the main road? and how much would it cost from karon to phuket town?

Get a Tuk tuk to Patong. The buses that we talking about are not the big busses that go around Thailand. From the bus station. The inter Island bus terminal sort of terminal is on Ranong west of the circle and the Province bus terminal is N of Phang Na Road @ Tilok Uthit 2nd which is east of the main road out of Phuket Town. That is a very good way to ship things areound LOS. Very Cheap but they have to go to Bus station on the other end for P/U... Big boxes for kids in Korat etc. How did I know about that?????? I have taken the bus to Phuyket Town from Patong as it stopps near Big C and now right at Central and the discount shopper place.
