November 23, 200817 yr I will be leaving Thailand to visit the states in February. My retirement visa is up for renewal in April. Does anyone know if I can renew it before I leave in February? And if so does it then become due in February or will it still commence in April? Also is renewing it at the embassy in the U.S.A. an option? Thanks to all
November 23, 200817 yr What office? At Jomtien, they allow renewal as early as 90 days out. If another office, I think if you come in there with proof of travel they may indeed allow you.

Thanks to all It will depend on the immigration office you go to. If you show them your ticket out they may do it. Don't forget your re-entry permit. You cannot get an extension any where but at immigration here,
November 24, 200817 yr The extension will start when your current permission to stay ends, in April. Don't forget to aply for the re-entry permit, you can do it at the same time as your extension.
January 26, 200917 yr Author Success!! i went to immigration today with all the pertinent documents and a copy of my e ticket and it all went well. i was able to renew my retirement visa. i had to fill out a couple extra papers i havent had to fill out before. having money in an account. and permision to stay, and one where i had to write why i woouldnt be here in april. i stated "i will be leaving thailand in feburary and will not be here in april to renew my visa" thats it. my renewel stayed the same. starting and ending in april. not january like i was afraid it would cause i applied now. thanks to all of you for your information. it inspired me to go for it with a positive attitude. cheers to thaivisa et al
January 29, 200917 yr I've got my "fingers crossed" for a similar situation with Korat Imm. in a few weeks!
January 29, 200917 yr Hi joesuhum, I think I'm going to be in a similar situation, need to go back to UK in March, retirement renewal due in May. Can you tell me if you had official flight tickets, or were they downloaded e-tickets from an airline? Would this make any difference? I generally book my flights over the internet, can't remember the last time I had proper tickets. Thanks
January 29, 200917 yr I don't think whether you show up with paper tickets or legit confirmed PAYED FOR eticket printouts will make any difference at all in the officer's decision.
January 29, 200917 yr Should indeed make no difference. More and more airlines don't issue paper tickets any more.
January 29, 200917 yr Thanks for the replies, it's a long way from phetchabun to bangkok, I'd hate to turn up and be refused because the paperwork (e-tickets),was wrong.
January 29, 200917 yr Sinde last year, only electronic tickets are available. If you are asked for a paper ticket, a printout of the electronic ticket will be it. www.thaivisa.com/forum/add-reply-f1-to224520.html -- Maestro The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place
