If you brought one in with an invoice (imported it) would it be possible to make it legal? Is there a cut off for ccs that is legal? Is it not done just because of expence?

I know there are 70cc "C" cub type of Hondas around and 90s and 90cc Jokers with plates out there (that I have seen driving around). So I am curious how are they legal? I own a couple of 50cc bikes which I only use on sois but like a lot (and I realise these without invoices can't be plated).

I know you can make one go faster than the top end of like 60-65 kph so I was wondering? There are some cool 50ccs out there ( mostly Hondas IMO) but I like the Solo, Zoomer (which I own one of) Super Cubs I would love to have one that was FI PGM, that they came out with this past year.

I have had a thing for small 50cc minis and scooters for a long time.

i'm pretty sure if you have import docs/invoices you can get it sorted. i forget what the plate fee is on smaller bikes though. may be worth your while to do a god search around town and find 1 that's here and legal....maybe :-)

I will have to double check the book but I believe i am correct in saying that motorbikes under 50cc cannot be registered and cannot be driven on main roads.

Except across major highways up north. :o

Actually there is a bike for sale on motorcyc.com righ now that is a 50cc with an invoice (Arpillia) and there are some Vespas that I have seen that are the 50cc models too that say they have invoice (in the past). This is part of the reason I was asking about it. I have also seen a Madass plated but think it might have been a 125.

I wonder why these are not plateable but the 3 wheel junk hauling, death traps that we see everywhere are? My Zoomer is faster and safer than most of them. oh I know, TIT and I am going by western logic 555.

I have started the rebuild of my Yamaha Chappy - also 49cc it will have the same engine (without electric start) 6,000 baht foe new engine.

Nice Charley. Those engines are same as an old Honda, no? I know I have heard that some Chinese co.s bought the rights to reproduce them. I have seen many of them on the 3 wheel junk carts around and they sound good. I want to do a build but keep it/make it legal and OEM Honda and 4 stoke/ watercooled.

I like the chappy/chippy bikes 80s Yamis are cool. I have a 1982 PopGal that I bought for my girl friend. It needs a little work still but about six months ago I did a mini restore on it. It has a shft drive automatic which is pretty cool. I need to rip the engine apart and do some main bearings on it though. Right now it sounds a bit like a jet engine and I am a bit affraid of ruining the engine (although it has the same engine as qt50 and I could buy one on ebay in the states and have it sent here, pretty cheaply).

Where do you go to get parts? I also need some front forks (or a way to rebuild the shit that is in there).
