Pastor Blames Bushfires On Abortion Laws.

Pastor's abortion dream inflames bushfire tragedy

The Catch the Fire Ministries has tried to blame the bushfires disaster on laws decriminalising abortion in Victoria.

The Pentecostal church's leader, Pastor Danny Nalliah, claimed he had a dream about raging fires on October 21 last year and that he woke with "a flash from the Spirit of God: that His conditional protection has been removed from the nation of Australia, in particular Victoria, for approving the slaughter of innocent children in the womb".

The former Treasurer, Peter Costello, who sent a video message to an Australia Day prayer meeting organised by Pastor Nalliah this year, was outraged by his remarks on the fires.

"To link the death and suffering of bushfire victims to other political events is appalling, heartless and wrong,'' said Mr Costello, who has lost a Christian friend in the fires.

"Those who have suffered deserve ever support and sympathy. It is beyond the bounds of decency to try to make moral or politcal points out of such a tragedy.''

Pastor Nalliah said he was helping to co-ordinate fire relief, including providing trucks to distribute clothes and food and giving his own blood, but he said he must tell "the truth".

Asked by the Herald if he did not believe most Australians would regard his remarks as being in appallingly bad taste, he said today: "I must tell people what they need to hear, not what they want to hear."

This is really no different than the "God Hates Fags" bunch of sickos who claim God created HIV to punish gays, and then protest funerals of gays with hateful placards.

Quite correct bonobo, this type of stupidity should not be blamed on 'Christianity' but on a few sickos who express their personal prejudices through other people's misfortune. It angers me! :o

But we're not talking about some bunch of wackos here; the Pentecostal Church is a mainstream religion with some 120 million followers world wide.

To me they represent the Old Testament "Wrath of God" religion with a heavy dose of Revelations thrown in for good measure.

They scare the sh!t out of me and I'm someone who doesn't even worry much about Muslims.

It angers me too.  I despise the practice of using religion to spew hate.

What is ironic about so-called Christian hate-spewers is that when I talk with Muslims about Christ, many opine that he was a great prophet, but his "problem" was that as a prophet who preached peace and love, he just wasn't cut out to be a true religious Messiah in the real world of hate and violence. So with a Christ which both Christians and Mulims agree was a man of peace and love, these hate-mongers churn out hateful rhetoric and applaud death and violence.

Is anyone investigating this religeous sicko to see if he is one of the arsonists who have has been starting the fires?

There are many good reasons for my being an atheist, this is just a small demonstration of it.

[edit: I removed the rest because my truths might upset others]

If God would really use natural catastrophes to show displeasure over the actions of mankind, and in particular laws allowing abortions and homosexual marriages, is it not just a little strange then, that He did not concentrate on smiting the countries who first introduced such laws?

Why the h311 would He save it for Victoria, Australia in the year 2009, and why would He let complete innocents suffer?

I don't even classify myself as a believer. But even seen within the framework of religion, his statement is completely off the wall.

How he became a leader or spokesman for others beggars belief.

That's tha point scea, he's not speaking for 120 million people, he's speaking for himself. Sure, he'll have a few people who agree with him but it will not be the majority view.

I also go with MS view above, why would God wait til 2009 and then punish people who are not responsible?!? It's crazy.

The unfortunate truth of the matter is that he speaks for more and more people every day.

How many do you think Pat Robertson speaks for?

I haven't been home for a while, but since when do dickheads like this even get a byline? So if there was rain and no fire then God approves abortion I suppose.

I would like to know how many supporters he actually has? I visited his website and his interpretation of scripture is, erm, 'interesting'! I wouldn't use the word 'nutcase' but he certainly has mental problems.

Pat Robertson is a certified nut case, in fact the term raving lunatic would not be excessive.

He has millions of supporters in the US and world wide.

That's funny, I had never heard of him. Millions you say, wow!

That's funny, I had never heard of him. Millions you say, wow!

He ran for US president and was able to garner enough votes to win one caucus and come in second in several other state contests. He siad he would not run unless he got 3,000,000 signatures asking him to run, and he got those quite quckly.

That's the USA for ya'! Mad as a biscuit!

^Seugha, I know I gave you a hard time on the philosophy/basis for scripture thread, but from a social consistency point of view, you're one of the kinds of Christians I can really respect.

:o

Well said, IJWT (and it needed to be said). :o

About time people realised religion is the most inflammatory business on the planet.

Aim of all religions, is POWER by fear.

This guy should be out away.

I see Pat Robertson is mentioned, but not Jerry Falwell(spelling?). Falwell is more of a nutter than Pat Robertson and led the Moral Majority. He was really scary with millions of followers. He died in 2007 but his message of hate lives on in his followers.

Falwell's legacy today is strongly mixed and often a source of heated controversy. Supporters praise his advancement of his socially conservative message. Many of his detractors have accused him of hate speech and identified him as an "agent of intolerance",[2] finding fault with his views on LGBT people, religion discrimination, his support of racial segregation during the Civil Rights Movement, his fierce opposition to the Women's Movement, and his controversial statements blaming gays, feminists, pagans, and abortionists for the September 11 attacks.
After the September 11, 2001 attacks, Falwell said on The 700 Club, "I really believe that the pagans, and the abortionists, and the feminists, and the gays and the lesbians who are actively trying to make that an alternative lifestyle, the ACLU, People For the American Way, all of them who have tried to secularize America. I point the finger in their face and say 'you helped this happen.'" Fellow evangelist Pat Robertson concurred with his sentiment.[39] After heavy criticism, Falwell apologized,[32] though he later said that he stood by his statement, stating, "if we decide to change all the rules on which this Judeo-Christian nation was built, we cannot expect the Lord to put his shield of protection around us as he has in the past

Quoted from Wiki

Pat Robertson, witho0ut checking wiki, is a lawyer, politician, and televangelist. Enough said?

Jerry Falwell looked like he weighed 113 kg, none of it muscle. That describes gluttons, who by a favorite mis-claimed Bible verse shall not inherit the kingdom of God. :o

Nice one PB, Jesus hinself was called "...a gluttonous man, and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners!" in both Luke and Matthew. :o

So his flock was merely the crew from the Bethlehem Pig & Whistle?

(Sorry Tiggs - looks like it's downstairs for me when my time's up!)
