having checked the thai embassy (lao) website and read details on other sites such as this one, I would like to clarify what documents are required to get either;

- a double entry tourist visa

- non-o (marriage)

....also what are the costs and how are they paid....

Tourist visa. 1000 baht cash per entry.

Non-o single entry based upon marriage. Marriage certificate, wifes house book and ID card, Have bank book with you just incase that ask. 2000 baht cash,

Both a copy of passport photo page, completed application form and 2 photos.

I dont have a bank book as I lost it in a recent move......not sure if i'll get a new one before I go. Think I'll go for the tourist visa. Do I need to translate the passport - someone told me this but I wasn't sure...

No translation is needed.

If you are planning on getting an extension based upon marriage it would be better to get the non-o. If not then the tourist visa is best because it gives you a longer stay without getting a new visa.

The bank book probably won't be needed and you don't have to have it in your name only. A replacement is easy to get but you may need a police report to get it,
