Hi all

I would like to know something

about Chayaphum, hotels and sights

thank you in advance :D:D

My wifes family come from Chaiyaphum. When I first visited in 2004 I thought it had little to recommend it but it has improved since then.

They now have a Tesco Lotus,Big C and Makro.Getting farang food is difficult and you would have to try the larger hotels or KFC (if that can be counted as food) ! :o But there are quite a few decent Thai restaurants, none of which are particularily expensive.

Probably the best hotel is the Siam River Resort www.siamriverresort.com which is fairly new and has a nice pool, decent restaurant (other than breakfast),internet and Thai massage.

An alternative is the Sirichai which is right in the centre of town and shows live Premiership football at the weekends on a big screen. Its an old hotel,a bit noisy but the restaurant is OK.

There is also the Lerntimit just out of town with a restaurant and nightclub and another new hotel called Deeprom which is brightly painted in purple, yellow and orange but we've never stayed there.

Nightlife....the nightclub at the Lerntimit is called Oasis,I think, also Tawen Daeng and Mongs Party House on the way to Tesco Lotus.

Sights.....there are some nice waterfalls about 15km out of town,a nice lake near a temple about 3km from town and,I believe,in the rainy season many people come to see the profusion of wild flowers growing in the hills nearby.

The Siam River Resort actually has a small brochure listing the sights and activities in and around Chaiyaphum.

In the centre of town there is a nightmarket near a small park and also a floodlit stadium with an all weather running track if you fancy a bit of exercise before hitting the Beer Changs at night ! :D

Hope this helps.
