Your Favourite Section Of Road In The North

Featured Replies

My favourite stretch of road in the North is between Chiang Saen and Chiang Khong. Breathtaking views onto the Mehkong and Laos beyond.

We're spoilt for Choice up here. I'm planning on doing them all, atleast around chiang rai, but its going to take a while. usually take a ride once a week . I'll let you know my favourite in about six months or so.

My favorite is the section between Phayao and Lampang where there are lots of hills and there is that place where they have prehistoric wall art. There are lots of limestone hills and cliffs along the way and when the light is just right the scenery is just beautiful.

I have lived in Chiang Khong for about 3 or 4 months now and have to say there are so many great roads or sections of routes in this area.

We drove to Chiang Saen again last sunday and noted places we will call into in the next few trips. Couple of the Wats and the tea plantation and probably the longer river road again and stop for a coffee at the farm/hotel. The sunday eve market about 20 km before CS is very cheap with produce from the hill people

I have dusted down my mountain bike and so far have managed 2 hills [5km] out of CK, some way to go before i can get to CS. I am looking forward to getting sorted out with a motor bike to take advantage of these terrific roads.
