End may be near for Humphrey B. Bear

CHANNEL 9 has taken the company behind children's TV icon Here's Humphrey to court in a bid to wind up its operations.

An application in the Supreme Court centres around an alleged $50,102 debt Banksia Productions owes to Channel 9 South Australia.

An application was also made to appoint a liquidator.

Court documents reveal that the claimed debt is for "rentals and goods and services" but they do not disclose their exact nature.

So watcha been up to Humphrey??

I seem to recall he got cancelled once before, but was brought back due to 'popular demand'. Let's face it - he's past it. I think he may have even been on the box when I was a nipper (not sure on that).

I don't know why they don't just have him on constant reruns on a cycle of two or tree years - kids soon outgrow him, so they wouldn't be subject to repeats. But IMHO, far better to replace him with Thomas the Tank Engine or similar - at least that has a storyline.

Ping, bicycle, tricycle, motor cycle..... or menstral cycle?

I am not past it !

And it's those little Koala chappies that live in trees - but even then, I asked one of 'em and he doesn't know what tree years are. He went away muttering about ring-counts, but then he fell asleep again.

Thomas the Wank Engine ??? Never !!

Not even real dollars - just those Aussie plastic imitation thingies!

I find this spreading of malicious rumours about fine upstanding board members is reprehensible - a slur on the good name of the ursine species.

I will counter-sue!!

(Can one sue counters??)

You've had it pal, run out of town by the Wiggles.

May as well move to Thailand and hide in an isolated village.

(Post fades out to the theme music from High Noon).

Good point about him moving to an isolated Thai village. I suggest one of the hill tribe villages up north-west. He'd be inconspicuous there (and it's a bit cooler - with all that fur). He could try the Karen - those neck rings would suit a brown bear.

I'd imagine the ring would be through the nose before too long.

I've lived in enough isolated villages - and up in the hill-tribe areas there are not enough food choices for me. It's alright for my black-and-white cousins who only eat banboo, but they are even picky about the bamboo varieties - as bad as those pesky little koala chappies and their eucalypts.

Although I am basically an omnivore, I do fancy plenty of salmon in season. So how many salmon have you caught in Chiang Rai.

Also those neck rings - they'd look really silly on such a well-dressed chap as myself, with natty hat and all.

Is that an ouzi in your paws (it should be ouzo)? Do you shoot the salmon while they're shooting the rapids?

Looking at the photos of salmon teh scea posted, I find myself stumped:

How do they even float?

Let-alone swim upstream?

It's a mystery to me...

If ya want easy pickings for salmon.

I had trouble working out how a Fancy Blueback could also be a Red Salmon.

Then it hit me like a sock in the eye.

I 'ope there weren't no snooker balls in the sock! :o

They sit on the bottom, I've trained the dog to catch them.

Wears him out though.

(The dog, that is)

He's just a soi dog with a bit of Doberman in him.

Very affectionate and a good watch dog.

He reminds me of the last dog I had. I never had a dog so brave and loyal. Good watchdog too...

^Didn't realise you knew Humphrey?

Humphrey's an excellent watchdog.

In high crime areas there's not even any need to feed him.

...and for indoors, a lap watchdog:
