Posting Rights In Bedlam

I was under the impression that it was a Private Forum and only 500 posts gave access?

Good Luck

I believe that access can be granted to individuals with less than 500 posts, Yorkie (in that guise) was given access with just a few posts under his belt, purely and simply because of his extensive photo collection of female bottoms.

I would expect that some individuals with more than 500 have access denied.

It's a privilege not a right.

I was allowed in here with only 50 or so posts. The reason was that I was playing for the Sunbelt / ThaiVisa football team at the time.

I thought it was because of your bopcat avatar causing too many psychological problems for posters in the public forum. :o

The vulnerable have the right to be protected.

Ha ha, no this pre-dated the arrival of the bopcat by a few years - my avatar back then was a Oxford United badge...

I believe that access can be granted to individuals with less than 500 posts,

Obviously..........

Yorkie (in that guise) was given access with just a few posts under his belt,

But his alter ego had over 500 hundred posts, I believe ...............

I would expect that some individuals with more than 500 have access denied.

I believe Taxexile can duly testify to this :o

It's a privilege not a right.

Obviously.......... but doesn't answer the question posed.

Is there an ancient echo in here?!? :o

Huh?

Really?

Some members below 500 posts were granted access when Bedlam was first started. It was originally by invite only, and then this was later changed to minimum of 500 posts. All original members kept their access rights regardless of their post count.

Also, as Dantilly pointed out, some member groups have access outside of the normal restriction.

Totster :o

I believe that access can be granted to individuals with less than 500 posts,

500 posts seems too small for me. I have been way too open about my real life over the years as TV grew to allow me to comment and perhaps draw attention upon myself anymore. (I was a mod for quite a few years, and have notched up a few posts)

There are a bunch of us, who have either spent many years (for me, over 5 years), or many posts learning about each other, interacting and generally taking the p1ss.

We should have a 2000 + (or similar) post forum too...perhaps the updated 'Out of the Box'.

How many of us 2003's left?

Wasn't that the original VIP Club, we are long from that.

Why? Because you play football.

Not entirely sure what you mean here Tuky, but perhaps it is alluding to putting too much on a forum that anybody can reach in short time, as you probably know it has been reported elsewhere.

However, I am not sure a post count entry level is the answer, you only have to get into a 'change a letter' or 'what music are you listening too now' mode and you are soon into Bedlam, whatever the post count.

My response would be to have certain Fora count nil toward the count, that way at least people have to contribute something to any board

I am against any invitation criteria, I just wouldn't get invited :o

Really?

Yes, at the time all players were put in the special "Players" member group and were granted access to this area of the forum. Didn't ask for it, mind - in fact I didn't even know I had access to this extra forum for months, one day I just noticed it down there and clicked in. I think I even posted in here without realising it was a restricted forum, I just assumed it was an area of the forum like any other.

have certain Fora count nil toward the count

A very good idea, but unfortunately probably difficult to enforce in practice as there is no designated "word games" or "threads about nothing" area of the site. These such threads have taken over the pubbing and nightlife forum for some bizarre reason, but to make all threads in that forum count nil towards the post count wouldn't be fair because, in theory, that should be the area of the site to start proper threads about pubs and nightlife which could have valuable, decent content in them. The fact that it has become swamped by these vacuous threads is a separate issue.

Me!

But I see where you are coming from Tuky, it would be sad and rather pathetic if we couldn't keep things between ourselves here, wouldn't it? I'd hope that anything personal said in this forum would stay in this forum, don't you? I know what you mean, after so many years here there are some people that I have never met but I feel like I know them well.

Good idea tuky :o

Any other forums we can come up with whilst we are at it?

I have always thoughts that the The Hot Bum / Good Ass Thread not only deserves it's own forum but it's own gallery :o

I don't really see the need for a more than 500 post entry right - there doesn't seem to have been too many significant problems under the current arrangements. If the majority are of the view that there is going to be a need to qualify, I would think a better option would be to combine the miminum post count with a qualifying period of membership - say, 12 months; provided that such an arrangement is practical. (I can see a poll coming on...)

LOL, Ping, how long before, maechanman, gets to 500.?

Joined: 2009-03-03, 327 posts (34.46 per day)

I thought I was prolific when I first joined, like 10 a day.

Good luck to him, he must be more bored than I was at the time...............hahahaha

Wonder if he is an oldie hurrying to get back here again with mic change.?

another possibility would be to use average number of posts per day to qualify. An average greater than 1 post per day, perhaps.

Sibey, that wouldn't work, again. All you'd have to do is (as mentioned in an earlier post) get the Three-word/last-word/song-title/movie-title/book-title/Pattaya-story bug and you've posted 50 before you know it. Per day/

BTW: I kicked the habit in the beginning of 2006. I only relapse for a few moments if ever.

But they don't, certain threads are copies and pasted elsewhere, including mine, it is just a matter of time before this one is too and the guys doing it have many more than two thousand posts.

Although I have said it before, the Pub shouldn't be a dumping ground for inane posts, riddles and jokes, there are suitable fora for these to be dumped into, or moved from the Pub when necessary.

This should allow for certain fora to have posts count as nil, at least people who need to gain posts for access have to at least gain some form of history.

And, as his strength,

Failed him at length,

He met a pilgrim shadow;

"Shadow," said he,

"Where can it be,

This land of Eldorado?"

certain threads are copies and pasted elsewhere,

Which just proves that no matter how much certain other places like to slag us off they still desire inclusion here, otherwise why bother. hahahaha saddos.

Suck on that muppets :o

That is sort of what I was alluding too, I am just not so direct :o

From 19 march 07 - see Bedlam rules

Remember - Bedlam is a privilege not a right

Do you have an eidetic memory suegha?

Moss

As for stating privilege or right, it is a pointless statement, this whole board can have privileges and rights suspended or cancelled, so why make a particular exception to Bedlam?

I don't want that Donkeydoctor in here - gives me the creeps.

Sorry Horsedoctor

But then i shall just go with flow with a few dips along the way

I'm sorry but i thought that inside the box was part of Bedlam, am i wrong?

Therefore, Tuky's lifestory would remain here. And he knows me from DD - but i would not want some 1st poster to come and tell him what to do with his life. Wheereas alot of us have followed his story from stage one.

Sat ok?

Of course, if someone were to enter Bedlam and cause problems, they could be merely banned from Bedlam only. But I would have thought that anything sufficiently annoying to get one booted from here would probably also result in a total ban from TV. Am I wrong? Have the majority got the right to have a vote and say, for example, 'George we don't want to play with XYZ, please send him back to General'? (I can't imagine that ever happening.)

I'd be interested in PM's to that effect, certainly, but I think that a public poll would not be acceptable. Certainly unfair, humiliating and not very nice, regardless of the person involved.

***edit*** and no, banning from Bedlam doesn't necessarily make one banned from the forum.

Donkey Doctor won't be getting to bedlam Patsy.

She was banned a while ago.
