Well you're wrong, Bags. (It's 278!) I'll admit to being surprised by the number - also surprised to see that you have managed a mere 6 appearaces in the same thread. Then again, with over 1,000 appearances in 'What's this place', I suppose you've got enough on your plate already!

Waaaay back I used to go to, "What's the Place" 2 - 3 times a day, wasting B/B on Google earth.

Rarely go there now.

I found it exasperating. Unless you had some sort of reasonable idea, where the place was located, it could take quite a while.

Spending hours pouring over mountain ranges and bits of coastline on Google Earth is not my idea of having fun!

I must admit, I did solve some of the places.

Felt quite chuffed at the time, wanted more.

Then some ppl went silly, really obscure places and not admitting they had the wrong place name.

EG: I said Denarau, in Fiji, poster said "No it was Nadi", which is miles away, half hour drive at least.

I had been there.

Lost interest after that.

I'm the poster formerly known as adjan jb. Two or three weeks, a prankster used "my" avatar and a very similar nick. That's why I became MonsieurHulot. Since I'm an old member, I was granted access to Bedlam. Nothing mysterious.

The urban myth is that she said "Let them eat brioche" We didn't have a translation for brioche so we used cake. However, whilst she may have said it, she wasn't the first, it dates from much earlier.

That trivia I do know about (well..roughly). That the expression was attributed to her, but apparently she didnt (or may not have) actually said it. Something i read somewhere too that she may have said something similar, but meaning give the poor people brioche. Or something, or other..summit like that...but i dunno..so ..er...maybe i wouldnt be good on the trivia team after all.

If it is so wonderful and "free" over there, why do they spend all of their time over here? Maybe, it is because the other place is pretty much a snooze. Their whole shtick is ripping apart Thai Visa and there is no other attraction. They really should change the name to notthaivisa.com.

If you try to say something negative about them, they change the name of the thread to something that suits them and bury it in the private sections; it is really OK to censor, as long as you are sneaky and hypocritical about it.

The place is pretty much like the basement of Thai Visa - only with lots and lots of cockroaches scuttling around.
