Visa Run....

Recommended Posts

Visa run to obtain visa?  What type?  Or to obtain a new entry?  Or just a border crossing for 30 day stay?

Well any would do, my tourist visa expires in February..so i need to obtain a new one.... (I am married with a Thai recident girl, but i do not at present have 400k in the bank)

I read in one post that a monthly income of 40k would also do, is that correct?

If so...what kind of documentation of this income will the thai imigration office accept?

First you can get at least a single entry non immigrant O type visa (at Penang) with your marriage certificate and a copy of the wifes ID card (she is a Thai citizen I believe?).

Age might be a factor on how your application for extension of stay would be received but if you have provable income from overseas (which indicates employment outside Thailand) I expect they would not require 400k in the bank for the first extension but I would be trying to get as much as possible into an account - keeping in mind to make transfer with proof of overseas source. You obviously do not have a work permit if you have a tourist visa so you can not extend on income from inside Thailand. What they will need to see is paper from your Embassy that you have declared to them under oath that you have such and such income. They might ask for further proof but if you have a legal source of money from outside Thailand do not believe there would be any problem in that regard.

If you can not meet extension requirements the best you can hope for is a multi entry O non immigrant visa and do not believe you will be able to get any place close except perhaps Penang. This type of visa allows stays of up to 90 days each and only a border crossing to obtain another 90 days during its validity. But if you can meet the extension requirements that is the preferred route.

Actually was thinking more along the line of under age 50 you are expected to be employed. But if you have the money coming from overseas that should be all the proof needed.
