On Tourist Visa Run?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I'll be heading to Thailand, Ban Phe - Rayong area mid Feb. I understand that on a tourist visa I am allowed to stay for 30 days.

Now if I leave Thailand, and re-enter I would get another 30 days right?

Again on new tourist visa?

Just wondering where I should head to cross the border to do this, or is this a good idea? Pls help!!!

Thanks,

Vincci :o

30 day visa is not a tourist visa, its actually called a transit visa.

Tourist visa is normally valid for 60 dyas.

You can cross any border and re-enter Thailand and get another 30 days stay. Depending on how many times you do this, the authorities may get suspicious though 3 or 4 times wont arouse any suspicion (Sp.).

You should apply for a Tourist Visa prior to travel.

This will allow you to stay in Thailand for 60 days.

If you intend to spend more than the allowed 30 day stay without visa (it is not a tourist or transit visa) that selected countries are allowed you should obtain a tourist visa prior to travel or you may not be able to board aircraft. The cost of visa will be paid back by not having to make a border run for another 30 day stay. The tourist visa allows a 60 day entry and can normally be extended for another 30 days at any immigration office inside Thailand if you want more time.

Hiyaa,

Thanks for the info (I'm still confused where on if it's 30 days or 60 days) but I think it's 30 days that I get.

I calculated the time that I'll be in Ban Phe, and it works out to 27 days, so if I get my butt outta Thailand and make a trip to Malaysia then I can re-enter again after my Malaysia trek back to Thailand and do some more site-seeing.

Anyways, thanks a bunch for the info, I think this way works for me...

Cheers,

would like to add to lop : although this rule is not really enforced, you do should have your return flight confirmed (within 30 days if coming without visa) or have a confirmed outgoing flight within this period. they do not ask for this if you have a visa.
