This is my first posting on this site, although have looked on for ages.

Me and my wife are looking to upsticks from the U.K next year and along with a friend currently based out in Koh Samui, set up an air conditioning business.

I know there are a few companies out there already, however I am looking for general advice with regards to the area's to look out for and pro's and con's of this idea.

Many many Air con shops here already. That plus Farang are only allowed to do certain jobs unless you intend to have the Thais do all the work ? In times like this I would find a niche market where competition is less. Good luck.

do something else ,the Thais have that business. Besides if you want to compete with them your asking for it. Samui has mofia controlling most of the construction and asociated survice trades.................good luck

Sad but true!

Go for a large city and don't buy a flash u-beaut ute to work from, if you appear successful you will attract jealous Thais. Not good for your health.

Forget islands & small communities for your type of business.
