This is for fun.

Assuming reincarnation is real, and mostly assuming you want to be a human again, what country would you like to be born in next time? Same one as now, Thailand, someplace else. Sorry, only 20 choices, nothing personal if your choice/currrent nationality not included.

My first choice was immediatly - New Zealand.

Unfortunately, it didn't make your list.

Yeah, that is a good choice. Maybe next life! I am American and I don't think I want to be American again, but I don't want to be Thai either. A hard choice.

Irish is good (except it rains way too much there)

Same with Canadian (except it's just too cold)

The last 4 picks on the list are a bit grim. Japanese people are ok but it sure is crowded in the cities that i've seen.

And Iran? really?

I'd say more island nations should be in there for me.

Bora Bora anyone?

France is definitely a good one. (I'm American too and would put that on the list if i could pick the state too)

I've spent some time in southern France and it was the best quality of life i've seen: food, wine, mountains, culture

Bah Jingthing you are so biased! England and Ireland, but no Scotland!

Well, im a Scot, and im glad I grew up as a Scot (even tho im mixed blood), so ill stick with that. I find most nationalities like me (on average). Then again, i see how some of the other nationalities treat their kids, and I think most kids in Scotland are not mollycoddled much. That can be a good or bad thing, depending on your perspective. Personally I wouldnt have minded a tad more mollycoddling tho!

Mexico. That way I'd have a reasonable chance of finding a job in the US.

Does being an underpaid, no-benefit, no civil rights, illegal, farmworker or bathroom cleaner or slaughterhouse worker in Gringolandia have that much appeal to you? Weird.

from Bros in pattaya, ( scam city )

I want to come back as a slim pretty Thai girl, that way I can easily find myself a walking wallet- money tree ( Falang ) & fall madly in love.

tell him that I love him & take us both shopping every day, after that he will want to buy me a new 6 million baht house in Nakkon nowhere plus a new Toyota truck, mobile phone, pay for sisters school, keep dad in thai whisky, pay vets fees for the family buffalo & send us 40.000 baht each month.

why would I ever want to choose to come back 2nd time as an overtaxed cynical 80 hour a week working brit, ha ha haaaaaaaa

Why do so many people want to be reborn as Americans?

We work too hard. We are too religious. We are obsessed with money. Our men die early of stress related heart attacks. Our women are like men. We are hypocritical about sex. We are too fat. Our empire is on a sharp decline.

I want to come back as a Thai woman, but I would have to be sexy and beautiful. From a poor to not-so-poor family. I also want to have a brain big enough to work a couple years and either meet a rich foreigner I could love who has a lot of money, or save (I realize this is not a custom here, but that's part of my wish) enough so I never have to work again, or I want to be born of parents like Bill Gaites.

The snappy rejoinder seems misplaced, Jingthing implies he is hard working, obsessed with money, stressed, obese, has lousy choices for female companionship but nowhere does he mention his mental stability or his personal habits. And I do believe he was speaking for himself.

It is a commentary on not just US citizens, but also my fellow Australians, nay even most white, christian westerners (WASP is too limiting - not all are of anglo-saxon origin nor protestant)

No, I was talking in cultural generalities. Personally, my temperament is not a match with typical hypocritical Calvinist American cultural values (I am very lazy with a dismal work ethic, agnostic, pleasure loving, don't give women a second look butch or not, love good books more than cars, hate American football, apple pie, and hot dogs, etc., etc.) so personally I know I would not choose to expose my soul to such a civilization again, if I had the choice. The poll is about what we would CHOOSE if we had a choice for another go at it.
