Retirement Extension Application

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I have a one year retirement extension.

How early in advance of the last day of saty permit will they accept my renewal application ?

I plan to be away for 3 months around the renewal time, is it workable ?

Thanks

They always want extensions to be requested during the last 30 days of your current stay but you can ask. If not you will have to obtain from scratch again. The one problem with these extensions is that you must arrange to be here on about the same dates each year.

maybe i'm wrong, but i'm under the impression it is "the last 30 days of your extension", not "the last 30 days of your current stay"??, since this not always coincide, it could make a difference? :o

Current stay is what I would say as it can be before your first extension and it is still during the last 30 days that they want you. Am not aware of any time when current stay and extension of stay would be different. Of course you might depart early on a re entry permit but when you return the extension/current stay would be the same again.

my interpretation of "stay" is obviously different from yours, since for me this has nothing to do with extension, just "being here", and then it would make a difference in his special case, since he is leaving for about three month, not returning before the extension ends

"30 days before end of current stay" would give him the possibility to apply for extension before leaving, which is not the rule (maybe will be granted?)

whereas "30 days before end of extension" he will be in Japan and not be able to apply

sorry if i'm too meticulous in this point, was just trying to be helpful

:o

"Extension of stay permitted up to" and "application for extension of stay" are the immigration stamps in my passport for non immigrant visa extensions.

In any case will agree that "current permitted stay" might be more exact.

But do not want to make every post sound like a Microsoft software agreement that nobody reads. :o
