First Visa Run Help Please

Featured Replies

Hi,

I need to do my first visa run prior to May 27. My arrival date was Feb. 27 and I have a double entry Non o immigrant visa which was issued on Feb.18 2009 in Australia. I will turn 50 on July 31 2009 and at that time I will then go to Immigration and apply for a 12 month extension of my current visa. I already have 800,000 baht in a Thai bank account.

I live in Surin and I believe my local immigration office is Kap Cheung.

Could someone please confirm what I need to do for my first visa run. I believe I need the following.

Passport with visa stamped already in passport

2 passport photos

Photocopy of passport main page and visa

2000 baht fee

If I need anything else could you please advise me accordingly.

Also Do I need to do visa run before my visa issue date or my arrival date?

Thankyou in advance

It is confusing what you have. You say you have a double entry non-immigrant visa. There is no such thing. The only double entry visa is a tourist visa. Check your stamp and see if it say's non-O and what else (single or multiple). Or does it say something else?

We need to know if you require a visa run (get a new visa) or a border run (leave and re-enter Thailand).

Mario

He does have a 2 entry non-o. Some consulates will issue them if you ask. He has posted on the visa forum before.

Your permit to stay date that you got when you entered is when you need to make a border run.

I don't understand why you need everything you listed.

You have to cross the border into Cambodia to get a new entry from your visa. It is not something you do at immigration.

Yes. Seen reports before of a Double Entry Non Imm O. Usually from Australia. They are pretty rare though.

Could someone please confirm what I need to do for my first visa run. I believe I need the following.

Passport with visa stamped already in passport CORRECT

2 passport photos CORRECT

Photocopy of passport main page and visa NOT FOR BORDER RUN

2000 baht fee NEARLY

If I need anything else could you please advise me accordingly.

Also Do I need to do visa run before my visa issue date or my arrival date? ANSWERED ELSEWHERE

Thankyou in advance

Hi

I have taken a few mates to do runs fairly recently and its a painless operation, it takes about 1/2 hour to exit&re-enter Thailand.

I live just outside Surin towards Presat/Kap Cheung/Cheung Chom border. Its one straight road all the way there and you may want to consider dropping into the Immigration Office at Kap Cheung as you will pass right by, in order to get one of their leaflets detailing requirements for your Retirement extention.

They are a helpful bunch BTW and if I can be of any help, feel free to PM me.

Thankyou everybody for your help. I have organised taxi for May 25 and will call in at Kap Cheung on the way re retirement extension.

Good advice Dave, thankyou.

Just a thought. When I apply for retirement extension should I then get a single or multiple reentry permit as I will need to go back to Australia late this year or early 2010.

Hi

If there is a chance of leaving Thailand more than once, Id get a multi, Otherwise you can go back to K.Cheong and get(pay) for a re-entry permit for a single visit out nearer the time. Its up to you as they say here.

The most important thing is DO NOT do nothing otherwise your visa extension will cancel upon exit.

Dave

You can also get a single at the time you do your extenion. Just put any date of departure and return (as long as its wihtin your estension period) you want on the application because it does not matter after they put the stamp in your passport.

A letter from your bank is also required.Stating the amount that you have in your accout. Will cost you 100 baht.
