I have recently been given a visa based on marriage. Is it ok to leave the money which I showed, when applying, untouched for the renewal in December and live off the savings I have in other accounts here in Thailand? Any advice is welcome.

I would suggest you have some activity on the account.

My understanding is that Immigration expects you to live off the money.

If the account is dormant, then they may assume that you are working,

illegally?

I don't think you need to use up all the money, just make it look like you are using it and topping it up.

If you are under age 50 and there are no foreign deposits and you do not have a work permit and income here in Thailand it is going to be hard for immigration to not ask where the money is coming from. There should be both activity and foreign deposits if not employed here. If not you should both be expecting some questions.

It is likely to be off less concern but you should still have those account book handy if they ask you as there is a requirement on the form each year for your annual income to be converted into baht and entered by the immigration officer. Normally that would probably just be a question but if no activity in your account they may want some proof such as copies of accounts that are being used.
