"b" Visa Single Entry

Featured Replies

Apologies if this has been asked before, i am moving to Thailand in 4 weeks and have just received my Non Imm "B" type visa, i see on it that the embassy has put single entry.

I am coming for employment, once i receive necessary work permits etc do they issue you with multiple entry visa? or how will i manage leaving and coming back?

Thanks

If your employment pays the required amount for extension of stay you go to immigration after you get your work permit/employment paperwork and request a one year extension of your stay. You should not have any reason to have to leave and come back in this case and if you have to travel you must first obtain a re entry permit to keep your extension of stay valid. Most embassies, especially third country, do not issue multi entry type visas as the extension of stay is what they want to see for persons employed inside Thailand.

thanks for that, do you mean that once i have my one year extension should i wish to leave the country (holiday/work etc) i have to obtain a re-entry permit each time? how difficult are they to get?

Not hard at all. A single entry costs 1,000 baht and a multi entry good for any number of entries up to the end of your extension of stay is 3,800 baht. People who plan to travel often get at the same time they make the extension of stay - takes a couple hours here in Bangkok if busy and less at other times.
