got to go to vientiane again,

i really don't want to sleep on the bus so..

i'm looking into,

1-driving to nong khai.but not through udon,

anyone know a shorter way,

2-geting a morning bus to pisanorock,afternoon bus to udon,

than sleep in udon,if it can be done,

i just don't sleep on the bus and am wrecked by the time i arrive,

any advisa

Through Udon is the quickest way.

Don't know if there's a day bus from Chiang Rai, I suspect not.

Agree sleeping on the bus is a pain. A night in Udon or Nong Khai is an option though befopre crossing the border.

i'm told it's 10 hours drive from crai to nong khai if you go through leoi,

another option is fly huay saai to vientiane,

all more expensive than the bus but ..........

Sombat have a day bus to Kohn Kaen. From there you also have the option of going to the consulate in Savanakhet. There are 2 bus stations in KK. The A/C bus station & the ordinary bus station - which has 2nd class a/c buses including the Mukdahan bus that goes evry 30 minutes. From Muk bus station there is a bus over the friendship bridge about every 40 - 60 minutes. If u can't find a door that'll be a Lao bus .

There is also a Lao bus from the a/c bus station but I don't know were it goes, probably Vientianne. U would need a visa in advance which u can get from the Lao consulate in KK.

Is it not possible to take teh river boat all the way?

I know it goes as far as Luang Prabang but not sure about the last bit of the journey. EVen then though there is a bus from LP to VT which takes only about 6 hours.

10 hours drive to nong kai,via leoi,

can fly from huay sai,laos,don't know how much
